This is why I love what Neil did this summer. Helping out Minnesota with Jake could get us a foot in the door on Covington. Two nice young pieces with a pick and $8M savings for Covington is reasonable.

Flipping Whiteside for a 1st and expirings is reasonable.

Simons, a 1st, and expirings for Otto Porter Jr. is very reasonable.

Bazemore, a 1st, and 2nds for Ibaka is reasonable.

And we still have Little and our 2024 1st to add to any of those deals to make them work if needed.

That team would be the best team in the West.
So many moving pieces throughout a season but I’ll be damned if I said I didn’t love the idea of Porter, RoCo, and Ibaka.

That team would be built to best the LA teams.

If the Lakers play big with Lebron, Kuzma, AD, and Boogie in, we could match that with Covington, Porter, Ibaka (or Collins) and Nurkic. The defender in that lineup would be elite. Our bench would possibly be the best in the league too with Hood, Collins, and Ibaka.

That team would also give us a 5-year window because Ibaka is 29, Covington is 28, and Porter Jr. is 26. Id give up 3 1sts, Whiteside, Bazemore, Little, Simons, Trent, and Skal if it meant getting those 3.

I think Knox is more stretch 4 than a 3, I think New York is gonna have a bad time defensively against wings.
Knox will play the 3. You don't go sign a veteran on essentially a 1 year contract to dump Robinson. If they wanted to play Knox at the 4 they wouldnt have signed 3 bigs.

Oh I know he will play the 3, I just don’t think that will be his best position.

Ibaka is "29"

This will need to wait a couple months and Memphis gets a pick or two. They then buy out Smith for much less than they would've had to buy out Iggy for.

(Looking at it, Cleveland doesn't get enough. Oh well.)

I doubt fans of the Heat and Atlanta are likely to agree.

Denver fans were thinking the same thing when the Nuggets unloaded Nurkic on the Blazers.

right now Portland needs Whiteside a lot more than they need Love. And over the last 3 seasons Love has missed 105 games...that's 35 games a year. No thanks

and Portland needs interior defense; Whiteside was 7th in DRPM last season while Love was 75th and only played 22 games.

Who would really want to take on Westbrooks contract that ends when he's 34? Riley is smarter than that.
A team that needs some seats filled I guess try and justify it, but he may need to stay right where he is.
Maybe swapping Wall for him as he has the same kind of contract? Who else does that may be interested in a swap trade?

TOR Gets: DeMar Derozan, Jerami Grant
OKC Gets: Marc Gasol, OG Anunoby, Marco Bellinelli, 2020 TOR 1st, 2020 SAS 1st
SAS Gets: Russell Westbrook, Chris Boucher

OKC flips Gasol elsewhere.

Who would be coaching the Spurs? because it won't be POP!

I immediately thought a Wall-Westbrook swap. Allows OKC to tank with Wall out for the season. And Washington to "contend" Wall is younger, but injured. Neither worth their contract at this point, but arguments for both teams. Can see Washington having to add, because of the injury. But, Wall has an additional year on the books.

As for other teams...Detroit has come up often, as has Miami. I can see it for both of them. For Detroit, you're locked in on Drummond and Griffin, adding Westbrook's shooting will allow each of them to average 20 rebounds a night. But, gives them a dynamic scorer in the backcourt. Miami would be a reclamation place for him, and him and Butler would be a similar pairing to him and George.
I can see Orlando getting stupid with an offer. I can see maybe like Minnesota thinking he'd be a good addition to Towns.

Wolves getting rid of Wiggins for Westbrook..

Pat Riley regrets giving all these picks to the Clippers for Buttler/Moe/Whiteside, then Clippers shipping those picks to OKC for Kawhi ... But the Heat need to make Westbrook happen, regardless. They must figure out a way to get it done. My money is on the Heat. Since LeBron left, they have lived on Wade retirement party ...

Ive had sinilar ideas.

Whiteside to a 3rd team.

DET gets a pick and expiring(s) from the 3rd team, as well as GT Jr.

Portland gets Otto Porter Jr.

Then we still have all our picks, young assets (minus GT Jr), and Bazemore to go after Griffin.

That team is the #1 team in the league

Until Griffin has a season ending injury. :dunno:

I love this idea at the deadline. Kind of like separate deals combined to make it work financially.

POR Gets: Robert Covington, Otto Porter Jr
MIN Gets: Gary Trent Jr, Skal Labissiere, 2020 POR 1st
CHI Gets: TM4 Future 1st and Expirings, Future POR 2nds
TM4 Gets: Hassan Whiteside

Essentially:

- Labissiere, Trent, and a pick to MIN for Covington (MIN saves $8M or so)

- Whiteside and future 2nds to CHI for Porter Jr.

- Chicago flips Whiteside to 4th team (contender) for expirings and a 1st. Chicago would trade Porter for a 1st, 2nds, and expirings.

Now THIS I like!!

Why are we trading Whiteside before he’s played a single game? Did Nurkic make an all star team that I missed?

You’re totally right dude! I think we should trade the cheap 24 year old because you know what I’d rather have? An expensive 30 year old. Fuck yeah!!

In case you don't know how the NBA works, it's this: You win with the best players, not the "best values". Nobody's giving us a medal or a brownie points because Nurkic gives us good value. Nurkic is said to be the 2nd best player at times. The 2nd best player for the Lakers is Anthony Davis. The 2nd best player for the Clippers is Paul George. Would anyone trade Anthony Davis or Paul George for Jusuf Nurkic straight up because he's a good value?

What the fuck are you even talking about?
