I have Siakam as about equal to CJ. He's a better fit... but I'd be hesitant to throw much I to the trade.

I think generically, Siakam has quite a bit more value. The gauge I'd use is this: there are only 2 or 3 teams where you can really see CJ being valued and where he'd fit as a starter. It's a very limited selection. On the other hand, Siakam can fit on a much wider selection of teams. And Siakam has versatile length and plays positions where the NBA places the highest value

I think one important factor a team considers when trading for a player is how much value that player would have around the league. Siakam has more than CJ

ok then...CJ for Siakam

* how much more than CJ would you want Portland to pay in terms of draft picks? 1 first? two firsts? one first, one swap? more?

* and if part of the price was one of Simons/Little, instead of a pick...which one of those would you want to keep over the other?

* finally, would you add an extra first to trade Olshey for Ujiri?

edit: just had a thought, could the Toronto/PDX discussions be, in part, a tactic for Olshey to try and force Morey to shit or get off the pot on Simmons?

and with that thought: who would you rather have Simmons or Siakam?

Dame-Powell-RoCo-Siakam-Nurkic...does look intriguing...is it a contender?
I'd give them CJ, one first and one swap. I prioritize players that can contribute right now (I think both Ant and Nas can) over picks. However, I can't imagine that they're trying to go older than Siakam in what they get as a Siakam return, so I think it needs a third team. I the Knicks miss out on Lowry in free agency they would likely send young players, picks and cap room for CJ.

think the only one arguing that is you.

he was a third team all nba in 2020, but that was more a function of Steph being out for the season and the league collectively hating on Brad Beal even if he put up 31/6/5.

ESPN's Dec 2020 ranked him #16. People that were ranked behind him that are arguably better are Booker and Zion. I would say that him being a top 20 player is definitely within reason, so I would go with arguably sounds fine to me.

I would give a first round pick and Simons. I think Ujiri would want Little instead so I'd probably do that. I would route CJ through New Orleans and they would give Toronto Jaxson Hayes, maybe another young guy and a couple first round picks they have from the Lakers. Maybe that is too much?

So what can a blazers fan expect tomorrow??

this three way would have worked at the trade deadline, when Ball could have been traded. Now that he is a free agent, I don't know how it could work. Although I guess it could since New Orleans has big cap space now.

DJJ/filler for Kuzma

How great would it be if he were to become a Laker killer off the bench? Nothing would annoy Laker fans more than this :bored:

"Now" is the entire point.
IMO, Dames knows we dont have that many assets and that CJ and some will not bring the next super star here. In fact I would bet Chauncey and Dame both have input on who they target for trading CJ as the main piece for.

I still don’t see any path towards a title contender for the Blazers right now. I don’t think Lillard is dumb either. So…I don’t see it ending well. Either he knows this and is bluffing or he doesn’t and maybe he’s not as smart as I think. They have to hope that some team or teams make a bad move or value our players a lot more than they’re worth.

Did you realistically think Milwaukee was going to win the title this year?

Did you think Phoenix would be in the Finals?

The NBA is definitely in a weird period of parity right now. There isn't a clear super team. If we were able to get someone like Simmons and re-sign Norm, I'm really not sure if this team couldn't put it all together. It just depends on what Chauncey does.

Based off the Bucks record the last couple years and having a two time MVP yes, they had a legit shot. Phoenix I didn’t see coming. They also had a path that likely we don’t see again with the injuries. Not to diminish their accomplishments but lotta things happened to create an easier path. I just don’t see how it adds up that Portland gets in the mix. I hope I am wrong.

NateB your act is getting old and starting to rub me the wrong way cause your almost always negative and granted there are some things to be concerned about it's not time to hit the panic button and this message goes to some other fans who are having mini melt downs via whining.

Give it a week or 2 and if NeO has not done anything THEN maybe revisit the meltdown idea but til then CHILL out and let things play out.

Then ignore me.

Sure we thought they’d be in the mix, but they looked beaten multiple times. I didn’t think they’d beat Brooklyn initially. I didn’t think they would beat Phoenix. Props to them for being resilient.

I don't think Dame needs to get a guaranteed title. I don't think he cares about being on a super team. From my perspective, he just wants a legit shot. He doesn't want to lose in 4 or 5. Ever.

He's wants the best team we can possibly give him. And there is nothing wrong with that.

Definitely nothing wrong with it. But the “best” team he is going to get isn’t going to compete for a title. He’s been on some good teams. If he wants this team to be a legit threat that’s a huge question mark

The Bucks have three all stars. They have Brook Lopez and a bunch of really good role players (pat c, portis, Forbes, Tucker). It’s not surprising they were champs considering the other threats were injured.

And the homers that act like everything is ok and Dame will stay here forever just because are annoying to me.

I like the takes Nate has.
