Trade Ideas

That's a tough one. It's hard for me to let Sharpe go. Also this trade(s) would leave us with no guards except Lillard and Keon. It would be scary. :)

Yeah you just don’t trade the upside of Sharpe unless it’s netting us back a significant upgrade. When you are a market like Portland and you pluck a potential star you don’t trade that commodity for anything other than a franchise altering talent. Kid is 19. Shows glimpses of being a superstar in his first year even though you can tell he’s a deer in headlights and just trying to blend in really.

You should for sure post this in the trade deadline thread or trade rumors thread because people mostly look at this one to see each others' half cocked trade ideas. This is pretty legit reporting and actually means something.

how can you tell it's legit?

it's behind a paywall for me

besides that, there is nobody on Cleveland's roster, that they would give up, worth Hart

I like Osman. Lavert would be an upgrade over Hart.

I sincerely doubt that Marang is making up that Stein said those things. There are three team trades all of the time. The fact that Stein is reporting that we're actively trying to find a new home for Nurk is a big deal too. I don't even know if Cleveland is interested in Josh because maybe we floated that to him because another team is interested in Josh and we're trying to get that offer higher.

he's a poor rebounder for being 6'7, and the Blazers have a rebounding problem. Trading Hart for Osman would make it worse

Only makes sense if we get a first that gets parlayed somewhere else. Otherwise what's the point?

but again, how to know?

all I have is Marang's interpretation of what Stein said. Portland has interest in Siakam and OG. Doesn't mean a trade is imminent. And I think it's been pretty easy to surmise that the Blazers are shopping Nurkic. Didn't take Stein to reveal that

without seeing how Stein phrased things and what he said about sourcing, it's impossible for me to gauge this stuff

problem is that Cleveland mortgaged all their firsts, and most of their 2nds, to land Mitchell

And in a year or 2 they will be right back where they have been the last several years after a very small window closes.

Then onto the next era. If you can’t get a significant roster upgrade then it wasn’t meant to be. I’m not saying I wouldn’t trade Sharpe for a star level talent. I’m just saying don’t trade him for a mid tier guy.

Like a Dale Davis. Would you have rather had Jermaine O’Neal’s prime or Dale Davis? Because that’s the kind of a trade I want to avoid.

jazz get a super young SF to try out, Cleveland adds a solid veteran to their starting lineup, we get a young PF with upside, and a peak at a sf for hart.

Blazers Orlando trade.jpg I'm not sure if this has been proposed but does this interest anyone? We could then trade Chicago their pick back so we no longer owe them a pick and maybe have them throw in a 2nd rounder. Would Orlando do this?

I don't think Orlando would do that

Not a chance. Wagner (Franz) is like their Shaedon Sharpe, only far more proven. I think they want to build around him and Banchero. Simons for Bamba, Suggs, and a first? Maybe...

I'd rather have Rubio than Winder, although, maybe, Winder's expiring contract would have value getting million off of next year's cap

for that matter...if the Cavs want Hart so much then they can ship out both Okoro and Osman. Blazers get Vanderbilt and Osman...too greedy?

I agree about the first part. (Franz is too good for Orlando to trade)

As for the 2nd part... no thanks. Most picks are protected these days, and Simons is the best player in that scenario.

Salaries don't match either for Simons Bamba and Suggs so that is a no go anyways. Would have to be a third team involved someway.

It's only off by 100k. Easy to throw in a minimum salary guy on their end.

Id much rather keep Chicago's pick over swapping it back for Portlands...

the pick protection argument is easily resolved IF the right trade presents itself

Its VERY close to working. Just add a minimum bench contract from both sides & it works

with Simons for Bamba and Suggs and a first? It is closer to 5 million off. Simons is at 22.3 Mil Bamba is at 10.3 and Suggs 6.9 . They would have to include Wagner like the original post, but I can't imagine Orlando doing that.

100K off from being a successful trade.
