Well, think about it. Just for a moment. Simons looks about as good as Lillard over the last 10 games or so. Lillard is the most prized player we have, which means he would bring the most in return. If we keep Lillard and McCollum, Simons goes back to the bench, where his talents won’t be as used. But if we trade Lillard, we could probably add two starting-quality players to our roster, plus a first-round draft pick. That’s gold, Jerry. Gold!

I hear you, we've won 6 out of our last 8. Regardless, I don't think Vegas is making us favorites for the championship.

Look at it from the other side, think how good we can be by adding a top 75 all time nba player!

Simons isn’t even close to as good as Lillard.
A healthy Lillard was a legit threat for 40+ Any given night.

Lillard could be the #1 on a championship team. Simons couldn’t (from what I’ve seen so far.)

The game changes in the playoffs and superstars are even more important. The ceiling isn't as high without Dame and the team who gets the best player always wins the trade.

I'm open to trading any Blazer any season... whats coming back? For me the goal is championships and while holding some talent this roster isn't balanced or a contender.

Question since it just won’t go away…

What’s the least you’d accept from Philly?

Simmons/Maxey/Thybulle/pick(s) and nothing less IMO

In other words - force Morey to give up the farm

The team getting the best player wins the deal. We don't need Simmons/Roco/Little/Maxey/Thybulle/Elleby/etc.

Dame
Ant
Simmons
Little
Nurkic

bench:

Smith
Powell
Nance
Watford
Zeller

CJ / RoCo / McLemore and 2 #1 picks and 1 #1 pick swap for Simmons and filler piece

The team getting the best player wins the deal. .

it's crazy how many people don't get that

Utah didn't get better when they trade Deron Williams. Denver didn't get better when they trade Melo. Minny didn't get better when they traded Garnett. Indy didn't get better when they traded Paul George. The Pels didn't get better when they traded AD or Jrue. And we're talking for several years after in all those cases

on the other hand, the Lakers won rings after trading for AD, and Phoenix played in the finals 9 months after trading for Chris Paul

And yet we’ve never made it to the finals with Lillard, and usually we haven’t even gotten close.

Without hesitation. I like the young core of players we have. I love the improved chemistry in January. I love the team ball in January. Every player has elevated their play in January. Simons is showing he has what it takes to be a high-quality point guard in this league, and that is all you need from the PG position in the NBA. Giving Billups the opportunity to build and develop a young core would be really fun to watch.

The return on Lillard and CJ would set this team up for the next 5-10 years.

Denver did get better. They got a ton of good players in that deal, went on to be 57-25 two seasons later, their best record in franchise history, led by the players they got in the Melo deal.

no they didn't get better. You haven't learned the lesson of regular season vs playoffs

Nuggets made it to the WC finals with Melo. After Melo was traded, the Nuggets had 3 straight 1st round exits then 5 straight years in the lottery. That's not getting better. Further, the year they won 57 games the 3 rotation players they had from the trade were Gallinari (he was 22 when traded), Wilson Chandler (he was 23), and Kosta Koufos (he was 21). So there were the young players, all role players even though Gallo was a good scorer. And they got a 12th pick in a draft 4 years after the trade. And a #9 for #7 swap 2 years after that. Those were the main parts of what came back to Denver and that's a fairly common return

notice that Chauncey Billups was traded along with Melo. At the time, Billups was averaging 17 points and 5 assists. He was the 2nd best player on that Denver team. So, part of that return Denver got was from adding Billups

They're clearly different threads.

One is asking if Lillard should be traded and the other is demanding that Lillard be traded.

We WILL be better after trading CJ & RoCo
