No Bryce Harper for Yankees

Bwahahahahhahahahahahahahhaahahahhaha

...I was hoping for Trout but I'd MUCH rather have Stanton than Harper.

I wonder what Stanton's HR numbers in Yankee stadium. Florida is a completely different world.

Starlin Castro’s public signing appearance at @SteinerStoreNY today has been postponed.

I guess that confirms that!!

Yankees/Marlins still waiting for approval as per MLBTradeRumors.Com.

...did not realize that Stanton has an "opt out" clause... after 3 years with the Yanx, he can leave.

Not shocked by this because 1 source said #Yankees were willing to assume more than #stlcards #sfgiants in their propoals, and another source said when you see prospects you'll see that #Marlins was more interested in getting out of $ then getting high-end guys

Hearing #Yankees taking vast majority of $295M owed Stanton. One source says $260M. Another says $273M.

UPDATE: Per @JonHeyman, Stanton has agreed to waive his no-trade clause in a deal that would send the reigning NL MVP (and about $35M) to the #Yankees for Starlin Castro and prospects. Stanton headed to NY for physical.

the agreed-upon deal: yankees get stanton plus about $35M, marlins gets castro plus prospects

Unless he somehow fails his physical stanton is officially a yankee. Get those lineups ready

Just saw Olneys 2018 Yankee Line up, Jesus Christ there is some kick in that group.

LOL. How can there not be. But I have a feeling you can substitute torres in for rizutto and someone for gardner after cashman trades him.

Here are Stanton's future salaries under the deal:

  • 2018 (age-28 season): $25 million
  • 2019: $26 million
  • 2020: $26 million
  • 2021: $29 million
  • 2022: $29 million
  • 2023: $32 million
  • 2024: $32 million
  • 2025: $32 million
  • 2026: $29 million
  • 2027: $25 million
  • 2028: $25 million team option/$10 million buyout
At the point of his opt-out following the 2020 season (his age-30 campaign), Stanton will have $218 million left on his contract. Likely, he'd need to believe that he'd do better than $218 on the open market in order to exercise his opt-out. Stanton's deal also includes some comparatively modest incentives based on individual awards and All-Star appe

...^^^gotta believe that either Gardner or Headley or Ellsbury will also be dealt. If they can deal Gardner or Headley that will nearly wash out Stanton's contract when you also take Castro's salary off the books.

...considering some "experts" are forecasting that Harper may get 10 years/$400 Mil, Stanton may have reason to believe that he might be better off opting out of his contract with the Yanx.

...don't know why these GMs keep giving out these damned NTCs and Opt Out clauses ?

...fwiw, I'm trying to take this deal with tempered enthusiasm...I remember the day the Yanx the Yanx got ARod (it was on my birthday) and I remember how exited I was...not saying that Giancarlo will be another ARod nightmare but I just hope we don't end up regretting this deal.
