I'd like to see the Yanx pay Dingleberry to sit at home, or send him down; wake his ass up if that's possible....?

The A's are interested in acquiring Christian Yelich and Marcell Ozuna as per MLBTradeRumors .com.

Cardinals have emerged as the “prime player” in landing Giancarlo Stanton in trade with Miami Marlins.
In the hunt with the ‘Stanton Sweepstakes’ are the San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies as
per John Heyman.

Thanks Cage......didn't see that on Twitter.

If the Marlins trade both Yelich and Stanton, who's gonna play the OF?

I'm watching Hot Stove....didn't realize that Biggie is a Free Agent.

The Yankees are interested in Jurickson Profar as per MLBTradeRumors.com.

He was the top rated prospect at one time
...has not lived up to the hype so far.

Yanx talk with Marlin's over Stanton. No word of those talks, other than this:

According to WFAN baseball insider Jon Heyman, the Marlins and Yankees had a brief discussion about Stanton during the general manager meetings in Orlando, Florida.

Now, just how serious the Yankees are about potentially acquiring the best power hitter in the game, a guy coming off a MVP 59-home run season Heyman characterized the discussion between Marlins GM Michael Hill and the Yankees’ Brian Cashman as nothing more than Miami asking if New York has interest in Stanton and the Yankees’ responding that they would listen to the Marlins’ proposal.

So, it’s safe to say discussions between the sides are in the very early stages.

The question is, does adding Stanton make sense for the Yankees? The answer is complicated.

The Yankees have made it no secret they would ultimately like to get below the $197 million luxury tax threshold in 2018, something that would seem next to impossible if they took on all of Stanton’s contract.

Also, the Yankees don’t exactly need a power-hitting outfielder, given that they have the reigning AL Rookie of the Year, Aaron Judge, who is coming off 52-homer season, plus slugging young catcher Gary Sanchez and a roster that led the majors with 241 homers and was second in runs with 858.

Then there’s the Marlins’ asking price, which figures to be astronomical, and the fact that Stanton has a full no-trade clause, meaning he’d have to approve a move to any team.

In other words, the Yankees may have interest in Stanton, but the road to him landing in pinstripes is filled with obstacles. That said, though, one can never say never with the Yankees.

We shall see what happens.

When a team has Judge, they don't need Stanton and his huge salary. On of the primary trade objectives should be to get Ellsbury gone.

Cashman made a bunch of deals today opening up 6 spots on the 40 man roster for better prospects and jettisoning lesser ones that don’t hav a future here.

Yanks' trade brings Ohtani funds to $3.5 million
The Yankees raised their available signing bonus money for Japanese star Shohei Ohtani to $3.5 million, acquiring $250,000 in pool money from the Miami Marlins on Monday for left-hander Caleb Smith and first baseman Garrett Cooper.
===================================================================
TORRES AMONG SIX PLAYERS ADDED TO YANKEES' 40-MAN ROSTER
The New York Yankees added INFs Gleyber Torres and Thairo Estrada, RHPs Albert Abreu, Domingo Acevedo and Jonathan Loaisiga, and OF Billy McKinney to the team's 40-man roster on Monday.

crosses fingers that Byrd can play a full season. I thought Cooper did a very good job last year.

He did al. But we still have austin and headley that can play first and hopefully the bird man is all healed up now. Cooper has talent but wasn't worth sacrificing a younger prospect for.

...personally, though he appears to be a good young talent, I do have some reservations concerning Otani.

He's young, cheap, throws 102mph and can hit. Whats not to like?

...didn't say I didn't like him.

1. there are many more cases than not, where Asian pitchers did not live up to the hype or developed arm problems and did not fare nearly as well in MLB as hoped. (the Yanx have experienced this multiple times)

2. he may peak at 102 but that's nowhere near his average FB...and as we know, velocity without command/location is not a formula for success...and he's yet to go up against MLB hitting.

3. he may hit OK for a youngster in Japan but it's not like he's tearing the cover off the ball and is hardly dominating Japanese pitching, much less MLB pitching.

4. as far as pitching, if the Yanx sign Otani where will they place him in the rotation?...and what about resigning CC?...and what about
Chance Adams, Justus Sheffield, Domingo Acevedo, Albert Abreu.

5. as mentioned, most Asian players don't transition to MLB as hoped and Otani has not yet shown that he can pitch in the range of 200 innings or so a year.

...look, I'm not saying that Otani is not "a young talent" because he is, "but at this point, that's all he is and again, having said that, "I do have some reservations".
