New York tried to get ahead of the market by offering him a seven-year deal worth $160 million, but when Darvish didn't accept the offer in 48 hours, the Yankees pulled off the table, according to ESPN NY's Michael Kay.

Yankees having trouble finding a taker for Jacoby Ellsbury as per John Heyman.

^^^^ Wow, some of us, if not all of us, have said at one time or another, "eat a good chunk of his contract, and trade his ass". Half his 22 Mil, Trashman's as desperate to get rid of dead weight dingleberry's after all, even if it cost him an arm & leg. Throw one testicle in the mix (w/the arm & leg), and maybe you'll get a deal, find a desperate taker, peddling known over priced shit.... Jacoby's going to be a hard trade, no one wants him, no one. Either pay 3/4's his salary
according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports. 3 more seasons with t/4th being a 5 Mil $$$ buyout, you know will be paid.

Reason #1 you never sign a player and hand Him a "no trade clause", unless He's earned it via the 10/5 rights.

The New York Yankees are said to be willing to pay at least half of Jacoby Ellsbury’s $22 million salary but are still having trouble stirring much trade interest at this point. That could be because there are so many similar players still available on the free-agent market, though, and it’s possible they could find some takers later.

Ellsbury hit .264 with seven home runs and 39 RBIs in 112 games this season.

Yup he just said it again on his Show.

Dingleberry.

NEW YORK -- The Yankees reached one-year contracts with their remaining six players eligible for arbitration on Friday, leaving their projected luxury-tax payroll at $177 million -- $20 million below the threshold.

Shortstop Didi Gregorius agreed at $8.25 million, pitcher Sonny Gray at $6.5 million and setup man Dellin Betances at $5.1 million. Also reaching deals were relievers Adam Warren ($3,315,000) and Chasen Shreve ($825,000), and backup catcher Austin Romine ($1.1 million).
Didi Gregorius reached a new deal as the Yankees moved to get under the luxury-tax line.

New York's luxury-tax payroll rose to $149,927,500 for 15 players with agreements, and the projected total is well under the $197 million tax threshold. The projection includes $10 million for the rest of the 40-man roster, $14,044,600 for benefits and a $3 million charge for cash transactions: a $5.5 million payment to Houston as part of the Brian McCann trade, a $500,000 payment to San Diego as part of the Chase Headley deal and a $3 million credit from Miami as part of the Giancarlo Stanton acquisition.

Mission accomplished...less maybe a SP; maybe 2 come by the trade deadline, or next winter meetings...

Btw- Gerrit Cole signs w/Stros...

...with Cole now gone to Houston, if the Yanx want to add Darvish to the staff they will have to trade either Ellsbury, Robertson, or Gardner.

Yankees talked to The Orioles again about Manny Machado as per Jon Heyman.
Ha..... If the Yanks acquire Machado it's because he was smart to get out of there as I had as a fan. I think Yank 5545 has got a good point with a Cubs trade. The Cubs slipped in 017 and the O's faded as usual. Both teams could supplement their needs.

...I think the main reason the Cubs slipped in 2017 was because while their offense was just as good, both their starting pitching and their BP was nowhere near as good as it was in 2016. In 2016 the Cubs gave up only 556 runs, while in 2017 the gave up 695.

...also, as I mentioned earlier concerning Darvish, likewise with Machado...if the Yanx want to add either they'll have to jettison Ellsbury, Gardner, or Robertson...otherwise, they'll be over the Lux Tax threshold, and Hal won't go along with that.

Yu Darvish will sign with the Yankees on Monday as per John Heyman.

^^^ ...Ellsbury and Frazier to the Giants, in return for Joe Panik, with the Yanx paying 1/2 of Ellsbury's salary ?

... This would free up the crowded OF situation for the Yanx (they currently have 6 OFers)...and also free up an extra $10 Mil to sign Darvish.

now that's a deal I'd take in a heart beat with or without panic/Panik...

shocked in a way Betances got a 2 Mil raise (arb eligible),...
now if he'd get fined 100K for every wild pitch; every walked batter he'd net approximately 10K....

imo, it'd be foolish to let go of D-Rob, noted in both articles, a big mistake to rid themselves of their most reliable BP arm....
and-
We all know Dingleberry's gotta' go, but, how/when/where? Trashman's abilities or lack of to strike a deal w/out losing key prospects , will be defined as to whether he can unload Jacoby, even with paying half his salary would be acceptable to me....

Personally, I'd jump on this in a heart beat, lose Frazier just to unload Dinglefkerry...

Giants agree to trade for Andrew McCutchen as per Jon Heyman.

Ellsbury is like a Used Car, too many miles, leaks oil, no warranty, no team wants him and He's Over Priced$$$....

...with McCutchen going to SF, that kinda kills the notion of the Yanx working out an Ellsbury/Frazier deal.

^^^^

damn it....
IF- only t/Yanx would of tossed in A-Fraud as a special consultant, the deal might of got done with Dinglefkngberry....

Yankees think they can sign Yu Darvish to a 5 Year Deal worth 80-90 Million as per MLB.Com.

Curtis Granderson signed with the Blue Jays on a 1 Year Deal as per MLBTradeRumors.Com

...as near as I can tell, the Yanx' 2018 payroll currently stands at $175 Mil which leaves them $24 Mil to spend, and that's without getting rid of Ellsbury or Gardner or Robertson....can't believe they're paying Chapman and Robertson $30 Mil this year...also can't believe they're giving Betances over $5 Mil this year...can anyone explain to me what he did last year to justify that much money?
