I’m super torn. I like having the vets on our team. But I also see a missed opportunity if we keep them.
Brogdon - he’s 30 and he’s going to have a lot of value to playoff teams. But if we trade him, what does that do to the development of Scoot and Sharpe? He has been a steadying hand and a teacher.
Grant - he’s at the top of my trade list. He’s selfish. He’s streaky. He’s making a lot of money. He’s 29. I also think he’s gonna be harder to trade as he ages. But it’s hard to find athletic forwards that can defend and shoot. If we move him, do we have the depth at power forward?
Rob Will - I don’t want to trade him. I love what he brings off the bench. He sounds like an awesome locker room guy. Major concern is his health but with him playing fewer minutes hopefully he can stay healthy. But he could bring a really nice return…. What to do?
Thybulle - he has essentially a no trade clause this year. He has a trade kicker. I think he’s fine off the bench. He’s not that badly paid. I don’t think he’s going anywhere.
There is A LOT of time between now and the trade deadline, a move doesn’t have to happen right away. Imagine trading Brogdon before the season started and we Scoot/Ant still get injured? Lot of us here have already mentioned that eventually players will get injured and teams will get desperate. Guys are getting injured already, there will be a significant one where a team will think Brodgon who should be averaging 20/5/5 on pretty solid efficiency is going to put them over the top in the next 2 years.
Don’t let 3 straight wins against 3 bad teams fool you, we are still going to be bad, and there will be enough games after the deadline to make up the L’s if we win more games than expected. Let’s just enjoy having them help the young guys learn to play and racking up some W’s to boost their confidence, and then go young by the deadline.
Grant is also at the top of my trade list, then Thybulle. I don’t think Grant will bring back that much in draft capital but I’d love to finally find a young forward for him. Even someone like Zaire Williams and a lotto protected 1st, I think I would take. Thybulle, whatever you can get for him, great.
Brogdon will command the most in the new year I think so he can stay till then, and I’m torn on Williams. Williams is playing the perfect amount of minutes to me right now, and we know what we have in him when this roster is ready to make a run soon. Great contract. We definitely will not be playing him in non-meaningful games like when we actually tank. So I don’t think we need to get rid of him unless we get back a great deal.
Williams is the one possible keeper to me. But again, if a team offered something absolutely crazy like 2 1sts or a young player and a 1st, thanks TimeLord but byee.
