Houston is interesting. They could dangle Smith Jr and Jalen Green plus picks.
Houston makes a lot of sense, I could see this happening.

Memphis also makes sense. OKC makes sense too. Many other teams either don't have the assets or aren't trying to win now.

The curve ball is the extension, I'd think Utah would prefer Markannan signs it as he'd be worth more in trade, but then they can't trade him until February

Marang off the had referenced a Grant to Cleveland deal which seemed out of nowhere but not unsubstantiated

LeVert (expiring)
Okoro (S&T)
2031 1st

For

Grant

I could see this happening. If Okoro gets ~9-10M a year this deal would shave another 4-5M off our salaries and that 2031 1st could be extremely valuable. Okoro would be a useful bench piece that doesn't need to start.

Lol this guy is such a hack. He literally copied the idea that Richman talked about yesterday that one of his listeners sent him. Can we all please stop using this hack as a source? He continually tries to pass off shit as his own without giving proper credit.

Marang is a clown -- the ONLY way the Blazers would do this deal would be if Jody and co. decided money was more important then rebuilding and IF this or something like this happened the Blazers would be screwed not from the deal itself but the message it would send to the fans and the team.

Not saying your wrong with that example but he is credentialed media with Blazer access so he isn't just a pure hack. Certainly think he embellishes his access though, but if you view his comments with that context I find his thoughts, opinions, and reporting worth listening too.

I think this is a solid deal especially if Okoro is signed to a reasonable contract. I've always liked LeVert too. The pick is the best asset.

I want a couple of our vets shipped out especially Grant so while this may not be the ideal return I'd still much prefer it to bringing Grant back to camp.

It was a fan idea on Locked On Blazers.

Okoro is still very young, at 23. I've always been a little intrigued by him, but probably just because he looks the part. Was finally able to hit 3s well this season.

Here is from pre-draft, from our own Mike Schmitz:

  • Has ideal physical tools for an NBA wing. Was one of the most impactful defenders in the college game and has All-NBA potential thanks to his excellent lateral quickness, high intensity level and sound technique. Was often tasked with shutting down the point of attack for Auburn, but has the size, strength, length and toughness to defend power forwards as well.
  • Has plenty of room to grow offensively, but already shows enough flashes as a ball handler and passer to leave plenty of room for optimism. Attacks the rim with purpose and finishes well inside the paint, while also showing potential operating out of pick-and-roll. Has good court vision, can playmake with either hand and generally shows a high basketball IQ.
  • Lauded for his approach to the game. Impacts the game without scoring. Excellent rebounder. Plays a position and role that is extremely hard to find in today's NBA.
Projected role: Versatile two-way role-player
-- Mike Schmitz

LeVert I would want to flip right away.

Abso-freakin-lutely
It might hurt our chances of getting Flagg, but Markkanen is a starting PF on a good team.

If we deal Grant, Simons and Ayton we'd probably get at least 3 firsts, and would probably still suck as bad as we did last year.

OKC could get Lauri and still have more FRPs than anyone. They should consider it

I think Chet is sort of a unicorn.

Pretty quiet around the league. Joe probably asking too much for Grant/Ant. I will be so frustrated to see Grant and Ant in the starting lineup on opening night. I am afraid it will be a repeat of last year. Got to let the young guys take over the team. I think from Ant's past comments he doesnt want to be a part of this rebuild; who can blame him. 25M for a guy that should give you 20ppg on ~40% from 3pt isn't bad. Shit all of these younger guys getting new contracts worth 50M a year!

Great post agree with all of this.

I'm actually a very big Ant fan but it doesn't make sense to have him on this roster with us nowhere close to being a playoff team and him being an expiring contract next year. We should explore trading all of Grant/Ant/Ayton/Thybulle/Timelord. I don't think the last two have any value. I think they probably have value in that order though, and we certainly should trade two of Grant/Ant/Ayton so this team can focus on building long term assets as well as playing youth. If we only trade one I'll be ok with it, if we don't trade any and continue this stupid dual timelines approach I'll be furious.

You'd think after trading Dame and having the 3rd worst record in the NBA our direction should be clear. Its amazing how many, even Blazer fans, don't agree with that.

Of course...We have the most balanced and potential filled roster we've had in a very long. Why would they build it and not take it for a test drive?

It is certainly tempting IMO. But my guess is that Grant will still be moved. They will keep the others who have not yet entered their prime. (Everyone 26 and younger) Which I am sure will blow a few gaskets in this forum.

I'll take those 3 picks plus keep ours, thank you very much.

Though I'm okay with keeping Ayton too.

Deciding to scrap our rebuild halfway through because the team is somehow "balanced" is the worst of terrible ideas. Do we have a single guy on the team that we know can play at an all star level??? The answer to that is simply, no. We don't have one guy we know will be on an all star level this year. It's a pretty safe bet that Jerami won't be. It's a good bet that Ant won't be. Those guys are complementary pieces to superstars.

We need superstars and we don't even have one guy that we can say with certainty is going to be playing at an all star level this season, let alone a single all nba level guy.

The emphasis has to be on developing our young talent. I do believe there are teams that will give us a fair return on Ant and Jerami, I doubt the same could be said for Tisse and Rob. So hopefully this front office decisively picks a lane (I know that's another thread) and that lane is building around Scoot and Shaedon, which becomes much harder when keeping Jerami and Ant because asking them to take a lesser role would be necessary and likely hard for them to take.

With all due respect I sincerely hope that the lane that the front office chooses isn't the one that @bemac and @Foxx are advocating. It wouldn't just be the wrong move it would be spitting in the face of the fans that have had to endure the second halves of these last three seasons.

Stopping midway through a rebuild so we can struggle to make it into the play-in every season until the next rebuild would be fucking terrible.
