What center should we try to get (bearing in mind comparative cost)

Kudos for thinking outside of the box on this one. I would have never thought of John Wall as a trade target, and my first though was, he's a PG and we already have an all start PG in Dame. But, then I realized, Dame could play off the ball on offense more and Wall could guard the other teams best guard. So, I could see it working.

But, why would WAS do this? C.J. and Bradley Beal would be horribly redundant. Neither is a PG. Beal is basically a lesser version of C.J. that just signed an even bigger extension. You'd have a quarter of a billion dollars committed to two guys that play the same position, with neither well suited to play any other position. I can't see any way this works for WAS. So, they'd have to move Beal for a PG, and with his contract, it would be hard for them to get equal value in return.

I'm only going off the rumors that Wall is unhappy in Washington, maybe they were false... I remember along the lines that Wall was unhappy that Beal is making more $ than him. If that's not true, and they don't have a desire to move Wall. The trade could never happen simply because the Wiz hold all the power. Just like Portland holds all the power for CJ.
Washington at some point will have to figure out their issues. I believe due to age, they'll end up moving Wall and hoping Beal can be available for 82.. or even 70.....
Maybe they can get better pieces for Wall... But I don't think CJ for Wall straight up is all that lopsided of a trade.
Beal + CJ might be redundant if Beal is ever healthy enough. Big if though.

Edit - I could see Washington moving Beal for Rubio if Washington trades Wall for CJ.

I'm okay with Tyson Chandler. He's not as good as he was, but he can give some direction to this clueless team. And he'd come cheap.

If we don't get SOMEONE by the Trade Deadline, then Olshey should be held for War Crimes. This whole "Small Ball" bullshit just isn't working.

I've noticed how much our guards sag off to help whenever the other team throws the ball into the post. That wouldn't happen with a real center. God we need a center sooooo bad.

Just FYI, Beal signed a 5 year $127 million deal with WAS on July 26. He'll have four years at an average of over $26 million/year left after this year. Not sure MIN would want Beal and his huge contract when they already have LaVine at the 2 and Wiggins at the 3. $26 million/year is a lot, even these days, for an often injured 6th man.

or NO doesn't care that much about this season and doesn't feel like overpaying for a center.

That's why he didn't sign one in the offseason (Ezeli doesn't count. He wouldn't have come that cheap if he did)

Regardless of the outcome of the season, he needs to trade for a center. There's no other way for this team to acquire one.

Yeah, Sabonis and Walton were terrible for this organization. Being racist against white people is edgy and funny!

Then you'r a 2nd class citizen. Enjoy living in whatever piece of shit country you're from that could get it's ass kicked by America.

Now that's edgy and funny!

After watching Dame and CJ try and play D last night, it makes me wonder if these two will ever be good enough defensively to take us to the finals. A center, any really good center will be wore out chasing their defensive mistakes. IMO. I love having both of them on this team for so many reasons that we all rave about on a regular basis. IF we had to trade one of them would we maybe look to Boston and go after Olynyk and Avery Bradley/ Marcus Smart and Brooklyn's pick plus another first round and/or a couple of seconds? We would still have other players to move to beef up our center position, but would have a better scoring PF/Center in Olynyk, and a more defensive guard and some potentially amazing picks.

I seriously doubt either gets moved, but they both would bring us the most back in a trade.

Maybe i'm just butt hurt from losing again!

I read this earlier today the more I watch Noel the more I want to get him here. He is exactly what we need he could average 15-10-2-2 for us with all the wide open looks and straight line drives to the basket. Plus he instantly makes our defense more credible. We're always talking about how we need a guy who can clean up after the guards meaning legitimately guard 1-5, strong weakside help, being quick with rotations, and he's got the chops.

A Noel trade probably makes too much sense to actually happen, unfortunately.

Yah, that's why I was surprised he didn't go after Eric Gordon in the offseason.
Think about it, if we could've signed Turner for $3M less per year, we could've let Leonard go, not acquired Napier, and had the money to sign Gordon and Ezeli to the contracts they were given this off-season. Damn.

76ers writer Keith Pompey on 620 this morning says that Crabbe + pick for Noel makes a lot of sense for Philly; says that if that were offered, Sixers would think long and hard about that deal.

Well yeah, they win that trade. I wouldn't offer Crabbe. Offer a pick. Why should we offer more? He's a pending FA who has struggled to stay healthy. Let's see what other teams offer for him.

I don't think that is exactly true, is it? We were able to sign Leonard because he was our own restricted free agent and so we could go over the cap to sign him. But maybe we could have signed Gordon if we had signed Turner for less.

After renouncing Kaman, Henderson and Roberts, the Turner + Ezeli signings put us about $3 million under the cap. Unfortunately, at that point, BRK forced our hand by signing Crabbe to that offer sheet. Matching Crabbe instantly put us $15 million over the cap and ended the ability to sign other free agents - other than our own players. At that point, it made sense to re-sign our own free agents using their Bird rights (Leonard and Harkless). And, might as well give G.J. his extension at that time, too.

So, Leonard had zero to do with (theoretically) not signing Gordon. The only way we could have gotten Gordon (assuming the same contract he got from HOU) would have been to not sign Ezeli and sign Turner for about $3 million/year less than we offered him. Given that our biggest need going into the summer, rim protection, hadn't been addressed, and we'd already signed one perimeter player in Turner, going after Gordon would not have made any sense at the time.

Gordon is looking good now and like a relative bargain, but he's healthy and playing in a system that is perfect for him. Ezeli was a gamble, but given that we'd already signed Turner and had the ability to match any offer Crabbe received, going after Gordon was never going to happen. And, it had nothing to do with Meyers Leonard.

Damn I only mentioned Gordon because he was Neil's guy, so I thought he might go after him, and I was actually hoping he wouldn't. It's easy to say now he should've. He's payed off so far, but I'm actually happy with Turner. If we had Gordon we would see even more of CJ as the point guard, and god please no I don't even want to think about it.
