Trail Blazers huddle during national anthem as display of unity

Corporations are not people.

The US Supreme Court says, you’re wrong.

As a matter of interpretation of the word "person" in the Fourteenth Amendment, U.S. courts have extended certain constitutional protections to corporations.

The basis for allowing corporations to assert protection under the U.S. Constitution is that they are organizations of people, and the people should not be deprived of their constitutional rights when they act collectively.

The laws of the United States hold that a legal entity (like a corporation or non-profit organization) shall be treated under the law as a person.

5-4 ruling of citizens united. One of the more terrible decisions

Ahh so they wapped it in. I was searching for its own amendment.

And how many years did it take for this to happen? Too long is my point. :)

Oh, silly me. I thought your point was that the 3/5 compromise showed that the people who wrote the Constitution were racist, rather than simply being the best of several bad options.

It was. You proved me wrong. I lost that one and swiftly switched gears to a battle I thought I might be victorious in! ;)

So, when someone prays in a movie, do you close your eyes? Of course not. There's a big difference between attending a live event and watching it on TV.

because of the few like you who get way to caught up in what other people are doing.

Too many people are soo worried about what OTHERS are doing when odds are they are probably disrespecting someone in another way on a daily basis.

Worry about yourself! Not everyone else

Pretty dumb ass take guys. You do realize when people fuck around disrespecting the National anthem, it is also disrespecting the Nation and the those that have served this nation.
The only reason they are doing it, is to gain the attention of the people that you claim to be "too caught up" or "so worried". Quite frankly, a bunch of professional athletes that have never served
and never will, have no right to disrespect those that have. Only fools would support them doing this foolishness. They may have a grievance they wish to support and assist in bring about a change, but they are simply misguided if they think pissing on the American veteran is going to help their cause. Supporting this dumb ass misguided disrespect won't help either.

The only reason they're doing it is for attention? Lmao. That's not the case.

They're not doing it for your attention and to get you caught up. That's a ridiculous idea, and you're not that important.

Not looking at the flag to send a positive message doesn't "piss" on the American veterans. Veterans fight for our freedom. Exercising freedom for a positive ideal shouldn't insult them, and if it does then they might be as fragile as the statements you've made.

If anything, the applause after is pissing on veterans that gave their life. In the military, it is extremely disrespectful to clap after the anthem, as there's supposed to be a moment of silence for all those that gave their lives serving the country. Remember that next time you hear the anthem, and think that the players are the ones being disrespectful.

I find it offensive that people who have never served form their opinion on this issue, based on what they were taught as a child or what the mainstream media says.
Many military members active and retired have defended Kap & these players.[(google is a useful tool to find things that went VIRAL)but no, please continue listening to the mainstream media which clearly has an agenda.]
I never served the country, but I have asked family members who did serve.
These family members of mine say "As long as they are peaceful, and don't harm anyone/property there isn't a problem. Which the majority of protests are peaceful."(my grandfather who was a gunner in WW2 and has Parkinsons said this not so clearly due to his disease. But this was the statement he made to me.)
They aren't offended, they don't find it disrespectful to protest something that is supposed to stand for Equal Rights, Justice and Inclusiveness for all.
As the this country right now stands for anything but that.

People who say, oh if you don't like it go to x country or x country where you'd get locked up or killed for doing such actions.
Basically telling people they're ignorant and need to broaden their experiences to see what would happen in other countries.
This is another dumb and lame excuse use to minimize a problem. That I heard as a child by an older generation(aka in public Oregonian schools).
Going to start saying to people who say this.
"Excuse me, adults are talking."

I'm sure it offends some, but not all. So don't generalize.
I however guarantee you any vet who realizes all citizens aren't treated equally in america like they fought and sacrificed so much to achieve. Isn't offended. They are saddened that we are still dealing with this issue.
It's why Kap went from sitting down, to kneeling.
Or do people forget he asked a vet how to remain respectful of his sarifice?
Oh that doesn't fit your narrow minded views.

Must love having two amazing candidates to vote for this cycle.
Fall in line. How dare you think for yourself. Fall in line.

I'm offended you're offended that I'm offended you're offended!! We clear? Glad we got that out of the way! Whose on first!

So what do you say to people who have served and feel differently than you do? Who, tell people that make statements like, "fuck America" and "I can't stand America" to go live somewhere else if it'll make their lives better? I mean seriously, if someone has so much hate for the country they live in then why don't they go somewhere else to be happy? When some people say those things to angry people, maybe it's not marginalizing shit, maybe it's advocating that people make a positive change in their life so that they are happy where they live, if that means moving then so be it? I can see how others may take it the wrong way though. People always look for the worst in others.

Ultimately, These 'protestors' can do whatever the fuck they want, because its a free country. But that also means, other people can do what they want and protest the protestors. I protest when I'm unhappy, and I'm unhappy when I protest.

At the end of the day the flag stands for Justice, Equality, Liberty, and Freedom for all.
It doesn't represent the troops. It represents a country, a nation.
I'll form my opinion of asking those who have sacrificed blood for this nation if they were doing it for everyone in the nation or just a few. As well as doing my own research and forming my own opinions. Not being told because I don't fall in line that I'm disrespecting my family members who have/currently serve.
I seriously doubt any veteran enjoys watching their sacrifice be minimized by people who don't understand the flag and the nation it represents isn't for all. It's for a few. I mean someone in this thread had the audacity to call anyone who believed other than they did a fool. Regardless if the "fool" served the country or not.

People who say "Fuck America or I can't stand america." are different from the ones who are being told to broaden their experiences.
Telling someone to go see what it's like in other countries where you'd be killed/thrown in prison for protesting the sidewalk.
Is different than telling someone to leave if they don't like America.
So I'm not really sure how you seem to believe that applies.
There are posts in this thread that have inferred these athletes are babies and don't know how good they have it. So they should go gain perspective by leaving. They will then see how little these protests matter and just enjoy you have what you have.
I'm sorry but that's not what America represents. So you're comparison is a little far off... Well unless you can explain it better.

Horrible analogy.

I do agree with a lot of what you're saying. I merely was just asking questions to try to drill down into your position, hopefully it came across that way.

I do personally think it is a little ridiculous to protest the anthem. I think the protesting could be more effective elsewhere, or even just releasing public statements about it and actually going out to city halls and really protesting, but without the violence, rioting, looting, and vandalism that typically occurs with such things. I am just brainstorming something more effective than this, which seems to just draw constant criticism, negativity and division.

Not to marginalize police brutality, But I also would hope people like Kap whose protesting (police violence) would realize that there are bigger fish to fry in the grand scheme of atrocities facing his community. Sometimes that is lost on a lot of people.

Anyway, happy friday dudes! times for beers!

I'm a vet and I couldn't care less if someone wants to kneel, huddle or do frickin' jumping jacks during the national anthem. And far and away the vast majority of veterans I personally know feel the same way. In my own experience, the people who complain the most about the "disrespect" never served or had any desire to. Also, if you read personal accounts of actual combat (or can convince a combat vet to talk about it), you will find that virtually all of them weren't fighting and dying for the flag, or mom, or apple pie, they were fighting and dying for the guy to their left and the guy to their right. And too many of my generation who piss and moan about disrespect and desecration were the ones who were spitting on and insulting our soldiers when they came home after being forcefully (for all intents and purposes) conscripted to fight an unnecessary war. Personally, I don't trust or respect a flag waver, if for no other reason than I don't believe they have the ability to think for themselves, and because (IMHO) they have allowed themselves to become blind tools for someone else's personal agenda. I honor and respect the individual who earns it, not some colorful piece of cloth blowing in the breeze.....
