Portland Trail Blazers President Chris McGowan was named CEO of Vulcan Sports and Entertainment, the company announced Monday.

McGowan will oversee the business operations for all of Paul Allen's sports properties, including the Seattle Seahawks, the Portland Trail Blazers and their respective venues: the Moda Center and CenturyLink Field. He also will oversee Vulcan's partnership investment in the Seattle Sounders of Major League Soccer.

The Seahawks also announced that Chuck Arnold has been promoted to team president, a post Peter McLoughlin held. McLoughlin's contract was set to expire and was not renewed.

Arnold will report to McGowan in the new management structure.

McLoughlin had been Seattle's team president for eight seasons, taking over for Tod Leiweke. McLoughlin was in charge when Seattle won its only Super Bowl title and regularly served as the representative for owner Paul Allen at NFL meetings.

"I'm proud of what the organization has accomplished both on and off the field over the last eight years," McLoughlin said in a statement.

McGowan said in a call with reporters Monday that the joint management of the organizations would create "an unbelievable regional platform" and there was power in operating things together, for such things as joint booking, sponsorships, contract negotiations and management recruiting.

Each organization will continue to have its own dedicated staff, he added.

Arnold has been with the Seahawks franchise for 25 seasons and most recently had been serving as chief operating officer. He will oversee all business management for the team. He also takes on the role as president of First and Goal overseeing operations of CenturyLink Field, the Seahawks' home stadium, and its events center.

"I've been connected to this team for my entire life," said Arnold, who grew up in Tacoma, Washington, and went to college at Washington State before joining the Seahawks as an intern in 1994.

Not a fan of McGown for firing Mike and Mike. Seems like he will make the Blazers super corporate . But as long as they keep them in Portland, I'm good.

If they move them to Seattle we burning that motherfucking city down.

Im sure it makes since to centralize some functions, but not necessarily all.
