Zombie Trail Blazers shaking up their broadcasting department

Last year my mom was on hospice about to pass from cancer. She was the one who got me into Blazer fandom. As fate would have it I won this ball from Slys drawing. Ran into Jeff in the elevator going to pick it up (had never met), his smile and friendliness was really heartwarming when I needed it most.

Thanks for sharing that act of kindness!

The sickening, gut-wrenching irony of it all is letting Chad Doing, the absolute worst Blazers media person in history, leak the news...

Starting to feel like we might be rooting for Darth Vader and the Empire, instead of the rebels...
They didn't even let Adam "Don't You Know Who I Am" Bjarnson, a former employee of the broadcasting team, break the news!

We know you are lurking on this thread @HCP and wisely staying quiet. As much as some of you give you shit (and rightfully so for being a laker fan) hoping all this doesn't affect you personally. Pretty shitty situation over there and hoping the best for you!

Well, now if I were the president of this land
You know, I'd declare total war on The Hatchet man
I'd cut him if he stands, and I'd shoot him if he'd ran
Yes I'd kill him with my Bible and my razor and my gun

God damn The Hatchet man
God damn The Hatchet man
I said God damn, God damn The hatchet man

Well, I once sat next to Bert Kolde when Blazers were playing in Oakland and he was nice. It was late in the year, during timeouts we talked playoff matchups.

Just because someone can be nice doesn't mean they are good at their job.

Bert Cold here.
I decided to change the spelling of my name to give a better reflection of my true personality. I also would like to remind everyone that even though you all hate Jody and have given Paul much of the responsibility for Blazer failures over the years it has been me that has been making these decisions and will continue to make life miserable for Blazer fans everywhere.
I have read many of your criticisms over the years and know that you need more of the "Ref Butt Cam" and breaks to replays during live ball action. These men were trying to change those tendencies and that would make us less likely to get more TNT and ESPN money.
They also were leaning toward live streaming that might cut into our Comcast money pit action.

Rest assured with my name change and the removal of these desperate individuals we will be right on track for next year and the years coming under the dark influences available to me under the murky ownership situation at hand due to the "Trust" issues. Blazer fans can be sure they will know it is me who is calling the shots as has been the case now for decades.

Sincerely

Bert Cold

Employees with that much tenure tend to be salary weights. They can usually be replaced by cheaper, younger, or outsourced.

Totally disagree. Maybe if the work is less skilled. In my experience with skilled private sector industries is very different. Having some people with a 20+ year history of the organization is beneficial, it gives perspective, instant context, history of what was done, and can help the morale of the rest of the team. People will work much harder at all levels even new hires if they see a real possibility of a 20 year career, instead of being replaced by outsourcing. If they see the organization doesn't commit long to staff, they wont commit to the organization. Turnover is a huge cost.

An organization needs a mix of fresh faces to get input for new ideas, but they also need some people with decades of experience.

Sounds like Bert was reading all the posts here that slammed the Blazer broadcasts.
Way to go guys......you got them fired.

I guess we know what to do now to get Bert to fire himself.

Glad you won that and had that experience when you needed it. There is not much worse than losing a mom. Still feeling my mom's passing this year. Mother's day and her birthday are coming up this month. Stay strong bro.

That's what I was thinking when I heard this. Trying to pay some other dudes less to do the same job.

I once got replaced by a younger dude because the boss didn't want to pay me,even though my work was superior. The guy they replaced me with ended up getting caught having sex with an underage employee at work.

Yep. See this happen a lot in all the communications related fields. What's left of newspapers are notorious for doing this.

What does this mean?

I'm guessing Blazer Broadcasting won't be traveling with the team anymore.

Wait...aren't you a teacher?!?

Or was this in a different life?

First off, I want to thank these guys for their service to the team, and us as fans. Blazer Broadcast is outstanding, and has been for a long time. Watching League Pass , all those years in Denver , to see our boys play , gave me a lot of knowledge on opposing team's crews. It was just the past 4 years where you could get your home crews all the time on League Pass. For a way lower price i might add (125 instead of 299 ). Helloooooo NFL. But if you think this wouldn't happen with new ownership, you're mistaken. And it probably would happen on an even larger scale. I worked at a great company in Denver. We had good quality pay raises, great health benefits, and even bonuses, and better yet, an awesome working environment. One of the Big Dog Corporations offered our owner an offer he couldn't refuse, and he didn't. They cut a 3rd of the staff immediately, and made the one's who stayed, Regret it, to the point where many long timers quit. It was awful. They brought in a management team that implemented tyranny. I went from the best to the worst. Not saying that it will. My situation was extreme. But i've heard many others say similar things. The Blazers are trying to improve the team and arena. Not all moves have, or will be , home runs. Hopefully most of the changes will be for the good. I think Jody is making the investment in the now, and for the future.

That’s how capitalism works; it’s a never-ending “how much sawdust can I put in this pop tart before people notice” experiment in making things worse to increase profits.

Things will only get worse everywhere. You have to hope any particular company is less worse than everywhere so that it seems good.
