This won't hurt my D-League ratings this year because I'll start building the reputation of Layman. I also hope to blank out entire quarters by interviewing Rice & Barrett, just like my heroes at NBA.com Summer League. Darkwebs abandoned me last year, but this season I'll flatter him long in advance to get those colorful first posts. It takes planning in advance to pull off a big project like this.

Okay, all Montero fans, bring your hiking staffs and follow me to the footsteps of Mt. Layman!
I've decided to call him Easy Layman

When Neil traded Barton he said Will needed a chance to play more....I think it's the same with Luis..he'll end up in Europe and learn the game

Next summer everyone will be screaming "cut Jake!" As if the 13th-15th guys making minimum contracts have anything to do with any GM's master plan towards winning NBA titles.
I remember how angry fans were when we traded TRob and let JJ Hickson leave.....dodged a bullet on those...

Jake's different, he's ALREADY better/shows more potential vs. Connie AND Montero combined!

Feel bad for the young fella.

But it does make me snicker some that he was waived because i know a lot of you have been on his bandwagon for some time now.

He is not an nba player and never was close to being so.

I was really unimpressed with him from the start. He tried to play a lot faster than his skill level allowed him to. He was a turnover machine, and was out of control most of the time.

Next summer? I'm betting he's thrown in a couple trade ideas this season, with the cries being similar.

Montero played in 12 games for the Trail Blazers as a rookie in 2015-16, averaging 1.2 points (26.3% FG, 11.1% 3-PT, 75.0% FT), 0.3 rebounds and 0.1 assists.

Is that really all he shot from the field? It seemed like he made every 3-pointer he jacked up in garbage time.

There is no comparison between Layman and any previous Blazer draft pick. This one is off the charts and I can't wait till we all skip Blazer games to watch his D-League games. Notice how he plays so sure of himself, unlike every rookie we've ever had except Lillard and Bayless? This is a sure sign of greatness. Do not miss this season's D-League games. Be there or be square.

I will now drink 2 watery, low-alcohol Miller Lifes that my sister pushed on me so I've been avoiding the ice box for days. Luis, this one's for you.

So is this one. Yuck.

Just put Luis on your super team with JJ and TRob. He chucks, they rebound.
What could go wrong?

24 hours ago, which was 28 hours after Portland waived Montero, Orlando waived Cliff Alexander. Coincidence? I think not.

Didn't take long for him to sign somewhere else. Good for him.

Luis Monterohas found a new NBA home. Three days after the Portland Trail Blazers placed the second-year guard on waivers, Montero signed with the Miami Heat.

The Heat announced on Tuesday that they waived center Keith Benson in order to make room on the roster for Montero. The details of Montero's contract were not released, per team policy.

I remember liking Benson when he was in the draft.
Would it be good to pick him up for that #15 spot?

Is that how it works?

Montero can thank his lucky voodoo stars that a player named after a fart medicine established himself in Sacramento by stealing whatever minutes Sergio Rodriguez might have gotten. Isn't it ironic that after ruining Sergio's big chance in the NBA, Bean-o is in the D-League while Sergio's in the big league.
