How about, for example only, everyone, including snakeoiler is an asshole. Is that ok? Or everyone is an asshole, including, but not singling out snakeoiler.

You are certainly a very nice man, so that theory may be true

Sly, is a poster allowed to insult his or her self?

I mean, I know in the case of MM, MM's quote about himself is the truth. But it just got me thinking on a hypothetical level.

Reminds me of some years ago, 3 of us were on a political tour, going around the Northwest setting up tables, selling literature, holding meetings and so forth, living on about half a shoestring and we all one night got tipsy on really bad beer and started singing asshole songs. you know like
Elvis, You Ain't Nothing but an Asshole
Darin, I'm Just an Asshole
Big Brother & the Holding Company, Piece of My Asshole
Dylan, Rainy Day Asshole
Beatles, Good Day Asshole

Well, you get the picture.

You know what, that is a great point.

I should have said I like to consider the entire forum, including, but not only, myself fucking bastards more than assholes

Would that be allowed? You're passing judgment on the entire forum, as if we are all equal, and frankly, I find that insulting.

It doesn't matter that you preface it with "I like to consider..." That just indicates you were giving your opinion. And let's be honest - opinions aren't allowed here.

So, with one brief post, you broke 2 golden rules.

As long as it's the entire forum it is ok according to a mod.

He embarrasses himself on here everyday so insulting himself is the next logical step.

Touche.

Just to be clear.... Are you saying/implying that MM's posts are embarrassing and essentially undermine and insult himself?

Since Mediocre Man likes to think of himself as a fucking bastard, that makes it fair for anyone to call him that, correct? It should not be considered an insult since he likes it

No insult at all. Now call him a celibate bastard, and them there are fighting words.

I'm going to have to agree with SAM, here. I mean, MM seems pretty proud to be such a fucking bastard, I think everyone should be allowed to call him a fucking bastard without any negative ramifications.

This is a friendly place with very few rules. The biggest rule is no personal insults. The only one you can call a fucking bastard around is me.

Please don't confuse the new guy. We've had a little fun today but lets make sure everyone understands, NO PERSONAL INSULTS ALLOWED.

My apologies, Sly. Honestly.

I won't push the issue, but you're not getting my question.

I take you calling me the "new guy" as an insult

Sly, in all respect, I understand every detail except one thing, and that is the time-space shift, commonly called retroactivity. Literally hundreds of us have insulted Canzano. What if he strategically gets revenge by registering, say as SecretAgentMan, loitering a few weeks, then announcing his true identity?

If the principle of retroactivity is the board policy, the entire board will be instantly wiped out to smithereens in one nuclear ban. You would even have to kill off yourself, though Denny might pull rank and creep out alive from under the inferno like a weasel.

Where are these rules interred for safekeeping? After the nuclear ban, Denny might need them to preserve his side of the story to escape the judgement of history. Do the rules make an exception for him? What do they say about retroactivity? What if SecretAgentMan is Canzano? I'm worried.

Canzano is a SlyPokerDog!!!

So nuke me!

Canzano: "Stern's denial is exactly the sort of action a man keeping a secret sale secret would make."

Canzano: "Stern's denial is exactly the sort of action a man keeping a secret sale secret would make."

So to tell Stern to not send him prosepective buyers, he wants the NBA to think he is not interested which clearly shows that he is in fact interested which is exactly what he wants people to think because he is fact not interested but wants you to beleive he is interested so that he can truly secretly sell the team.

That Paul Allen is a crafty one . . .

JohnCanzanoBFT: David Stern tells The Oregonian Paul Allen is not looking to sell, per Jason Quick.

I never understood the insane idea of Merritt Paulson as perspective buyer that Canzano was pushing. You need a much, much richer owner to buy an NBA franchise these days. Canzano is clearly throwing crap at the wall and seeing what will stick.

I believe the assumption was he would have many big pocketed partners.

Because they would need the genius of Paulson? The Timbers Army is the real engine behind the small-scale success of that MLS franchise, Paulson gets way too much credit on BFT.

Most groups of investors usually have a guy up front calling the shots. Do they "need the genius" of him? Maybe not. But if he's the one organizing all of the donors together, then I guess so.
