I thought we could have only 2 players in G League? Did we recall Swanigan too?

I think that a really good on Olshey part for them getting some playing time. But surprised that there going to 2 different teams.
yeah, I would think you want the guys to bond together. Maybe they intend on trading one in a year or two.

Or maybe, and I know this might be crazy on my part...they want each one of them to get the minutes instead of splitting between the two?

I.e., they're both guards, whereas Baldwin and Caleb are a PF an a PG. Not a lot of minutes shared.

That's an interesting thought, I see Simons as more of a PG, and Trent as a SG, but maybe their both kind of SG's.

Yeah but the G League is similar to summer ball. Games can be guard dominated. If I’m sending two guards down that need the ball in their hands, I’d prefer to send them to different teams and let them get comfortable and build confidence.

There’s also the argument for them to learn to play together, but I wouldn’t be surprised if other teams have equivalent players they have sent down that still need minutes and the rock in their hands as well.

From what I’ve heard, that’s the way the team sees them as well, or at least initially. Simons a big PG, while Trent is more of a SG/SF.

I don’t think the g league will necessarily really help either one, but getting playing time can’t hurt either.

Simons is a PG. You can see it in his patient deliberate dribbling, simultaneous with court vision, looking to pass. Stotts has told Trent to be a 1-dimensional shooter so far, but he's only a rookie.

In my opinion, Simons is a future starter, but not Trent. I could be wrong, unlikely as that is, but I dislike this board's trade proposals in which Simons is a throw-in. Simon says, keep our skinny Sampson.

I like how when I say "they're both guards", people respond by telling me Simons is a PG.

As if they forget what the G stands for in PG and SG.

Okay, I see what you meant. Your second sentence was ambiguous and threw us off.

Your post implied they couldnt both get minutes because they’re both guards. So discussing how they actually play different positions seems seems like a natural discussion...

He has an nba body. Funny when you remember he’s the same age as Simons.
Anyway his stats didn't look bad but let see if he can put the numbers up his next 3 games. Because in the summer league he was little inconsistent after a good game he turned not so good.

Just hard to judge because so far we’ve only seen him in summer league, preseason, garbage time, and the g league. Nothing really structured about any of those and chucking isn’t looked down upon. We’ll see how he does when he gets rotation minutes in 2021!

If Trent can learn to defend (long shot with Stotts) IMO he'll be a future starter in this league. NBA pedigree and physical attributes, and by all accounts drive.

I hope so. I was going on what I saw in the Summer League. Based on this new highlight film...Trent is a star! I was wrong!

...I wish him well.

Watched Gary's game.

Looked good as a spot shooter and got to his off the dribble game, but still looked uncomfortable at times finishing in traffic and pretty limited driving the lane overall. Just not a very quick or fluid athlete imo and has a really basic handle.

Looked ok defending on ball, but struggled as a team defender and on closeouts.

Bigger, Slower Tyler Dorsey is still my comp.

But even Tyler Dorsey is hardly an NBA player. In fact, if it wasn't for that lights shooting performance in the NCAA's, he'd be playing in Greece. Which is were he is going to probably end up eventually any way. So a Bigger Slower Tyler Dorsey means a Bigger, Slower Streak Shooter... basically.
