Politics Trump claims previous presidents didn't call families of fallen soldiers

Absolutely, all the points made about just what the US was doing, and why these elite troops were clearly unprepared needs investigation. Not necessarily 60 hearings like BENGHAZI!!!!!!! but investigation.

Meanwhile, there are TWO things that are said to a person who has lost a spouse/parent/child.

We are very sorry for your loss, Mrs. Johnson (not "the wife").
Thank you for your family's service to our country.

Then SHUT THE FUCK UP.

He literally CANNOT do that, though. He is psychologically incapable. Which, of course, is why he should never be president.

Someone actually created a fake Facebook account in Mrs. Johnson's name, with a badly spelled post attacking Congresswoman Wilson and praising Trump.

A woman, who lived a private life, facing terrible grief, trying to keep her children functioning, 6 months pregnant, but with all that had to make public statements that her name was used by some person unknown. And of yes, she's now getting threats from True Patriots who know the real measure of patriotism is football players standing for the national anthem.

At long last, have you no shame?

There's a good chance the parents of a fallen soldier are going to act out in their grief. Espeically partisans of the party opposite the president who's calling.

I think it's telling that the Gold star families The Fat Hutt is having issues with are people of color.

I also think it's telling that everyone who defends him on this issue says the same talking point:

"this congresswoman, who hates the president".

This is what's being pushed. I scoured the internet and found no such statement.

She claimed it was? Really?

Maybe it means she smells of bourbon.

Funny I haven't more than a passing interest in this and guessed the race card was coming out.

Did she even bring it up??? How come whenever racism is brought up, white people call it some fucking card??

That's Y'ALL'S card right there! I can't stand that shit...

It's a simple way of exercising the privilege it is not to give a fuck.

Another DNC-created fake.

You're saying people of color have no basic manners? No respect for our President? They have difficulty understanding plain English? Trouble with word comprehension?

Not sure what you're implying here, but you are correct in that most other Gold Star families who got the same words and same calls received them with gratitude and respect for their sincerity.

I wasn't implying anything. I was SPECIFICALLY calling Donald Drumpf a racist.

:smiley-hvala:

Having people pissed at you because you sent their kid/spouse to die is part of the job as president, as Bush or Obama would have told him if he'd been interested. He'd better get used to it, he hasn't seen anything on that front yet.

Utterly clueless and uninformed post.

Our soldiers are NEVER “sent to die”.

That would be counter-productive at the very least.

They are sent to conquer, control and secure.

They are sent in harm's way.

Barfo misspoke, but he argues that is a sign of bad memory or whatever.

It's that empathy thing again. Two people can say the exact same words and get two very different results. It's not hard to imagine that Trump struck the wrong tone, even if he was reading from a script that Kelly wrote for him.

As several Gold Star families have insisted and one call recorded by a grateful widow has made enormously clear, this fake news originated from a total misrepresentation of what President Trump said. Not a misunderstanding or typo. Just a deliberate lie by a disgraceful and racist anti-Trump swamprat who had glommed into a grieving widow for a photo-op.

Commentary:
Why George W. Bush stood there and took the wrath of a soldier's mom. Listen up, Donald Trump.

And that was just the first patient we saw. For the rest of the visit to the hospital that day, almost every family had the same reaction of joy when they saw the president. But there were exceptions. One mom and dad of a dying soldier from the Caribbean were devastated, the mom beside herself with grief. She yelled at the president, wanting to know why it was her child and not his who lay in that hospital bed. Her husband tried to calm her, and I noticed the president wasn't in a hurry to leave — he tried offering comfort but then just stood and took it, like he expected and needed to hear the anguish, to try to soak up some of her suffering if he could.

Not by you.

Horseshit. The videotape proves otherwise. You go on and argue with reality all you want, but unless the video was faked, he got it completely wrong, both facts and tone, start to finish.

Why did she deserve his ire, exactly? For telling the truth?

She bragged about supporting the legislation, which obviously required funding.

Same thing. She’s grandstanding on the backs of dead soldiers, a disgusting and reprehensible act by a morally bankrupt attention seeker.

So now crandc is an expert on military preparedness and feels she should have been consulted about the mission. As for her view on what should be said, seems a post card is enough in her opinion.

Washington Post with the burn.

She was referring to the press.

The President can question anybody.

Well, the press can question anyone. I think her point was that they would look bad for doing so with the 4 star general, questioning his integrity.

Except for the fact that there were several things that Kelly said that were flat out wrong.

Even so, the man has integrity and the things he said that were wrong weren't that far off.

He revealed himself to be much more of a partisan hack than any of us ever suspected. The things he said that were wrong were entirely wrong, and were said for a purely political purpose.

SAD!

Naming a building does not require funding.

That is why he can be called a dignified US President.

I don't see him as a partisan hack.

He was badgered by the woman and the press into coming forward in the first place. In spite of his mistakes, he was sincere and absolutely crushed it.

The people praising him today hated him as much as they do Trump (now) back then.

Nope. People thought Bush was a dope, but Trump has set the bar far lower.
