During a Feb. 28, 2020, campaign rally in South Carolina, President Donald Trump likened the Democrats' criticism of his administration's response to the new coronavirus outbreak to their efforts to impeach him, saying "this is their new hoax." During the speech he also seemed to downplay the severity of the outbreak, comparing it to the common flu.

What's False
Despite creating some confusion with his remarks, Trump did not call the coronavirus itself a hoax.

Some people have zero concept of context. It’s a borderline reading comprehension issue. Obviously Trump was referring to the media’s attacks on him claiming he’s not doing anything about the virus. He was saying it’s their new hoax against him. It’s not that hard to understand. He may be wrong and doing a terrible job or whatever, that’s perfectly debatable, but that’s the actual context of what he was saying. Most of fez’s threads are the direct result of confusion regarding the context of a situation and/or reading comprehension issues. He gets duped by sensational headlines then steams about it and his anger/confusion then gets directed at the hoards non-existent Trump supporters on a Blazers fan forum.

Im not sure it makes sense saying he called the virus a hoax, didnt he do travel bans from China in January? So that seems to indicate he realized the virus was, “real”.
Its interesting to read these discussions over and over online and I think there is a heck of a lot of confirmation bias going on. -Im not excluding myself and my thoughts on it- Ive seen a lot of people Id consider intelligent take up both sides of this particular argument though. Like him or hate him I think its clear that Trumps, “axe to grind” is with the media and how he believes they treat him, not with the coronavirus, though secretly he probably is upset it might cost him an election.
