There's a lot of truth to the line that war is good for the GNP...gets rid of old real estate ..construction boom...kills off young men and women that would enter the job market..good for unemployment numbers...sells lots of ammo, choppers, planes, ships, rockets, etc....good for manufacturing..protects oil reserves from falling into the hands of competitors...good for national interests...you listen to the old retired hawks hash this stuff over often at vet meetings I've attended. You're absolutely right though...it sucks..but you're wrong that this is the worst of them..there have been far worse wars on the planet

About oil...instead of working on sustainable energy sources for when there is no more oil in 50-100 years, we are starting nonsensical wars to steal oil from other countries. We choose what is easy over what is hard.
