I agree that the norm should be mail or official drop box. "Ballot harvesting" isn't necessarily fraudulent, but when political parties engage in it it's certainly intended to ensure that ballots in precincts that are generally favorable to your party get cast, while not worrying about collecting them in areas that predominantly don't vote for your candidates. That's not too much different than traditional get out the vote practices, but it raises the specter of fraud because it gives a third party control of the actual ballots. I'd be willing to bet that you place a lot more confidence in that not happening with Democrat ballot collection than you do with Republicans being the ones doing the harvesting. I'd also say that the mistrust is mutual. Just how hard is it to put a ballot in the mail and avoid the whole issue?

I'm only a couple of miles from the Clackamas County Elections Department office. I drop mine in the box there.

For people with disabilities, single parents with young children, people in quarantine due to Corona virus, etc. I see nothing wrong with giving a ballot to a trusted person to hand in or mail. Ballot harvesting is one of those invented phrases designed to make something routine sound bad.

I agree with you on both points. The problem is that in our hyper-partisan world today, both Republicans and Democrats tend to view each other with distrust and assumed ill-intent. I don't think that there's an easy solution.
 
Tomi Lahren, self appointed expert on nothing, tweeted photos of Trump without mask and Biden with mask, with comment that Biden might as well carry a purse. Because trying to prevent spread of contagious disease that has killed 215,000 Americans and a million worldwide is girly.

Which might have something to do with the 23 point gender gap.

Donald Trump has demanded Puerto Ricans vote for him, despite the island’s residents not being able to cast a ballot in the presidential election.

Mr Trump courted Puerto Rican voters during part of his Make America Great Again rally in Florida on Monday, his first since catching Covid-19.

“I’m not gonna say the best, but I’m just about the best thing that ever happened to Puerto Rico. You better vote for me, Puerto Rico,” boasted the president.

None of the island’s 3.2 million US citizens has a vote in a presidential election, nor do those in the four other US territories of American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and the US Virgin Island

Court upheld Texas voter supppression, only one ballot drop box per county. Hurts high population counties, which is the point.

For years state of Texas and Texas businesses advertised in California, trying to get skilled workers to move there, touting low housing costs. Probably did the same in the Northwest. It worked.

And Texas is turning blue.
