OT Unemployment......

Okay, so lets say OI have two car payments and a boat payment. Need to sell the boat. But wait. No one has any money to buy. So I have to sell for far less than what I owe to even try to get it sold.

Come on now.

it’s usually part of life during a recession

Okay, so then when a recession hits, help the lowest income earners only. When its not a recession, those lowest income earners better not bitch one bit about spreading the wealth then.

no. Help the people who are effected. Usually the people who are living nicely to begin with aren’t very affected by a recession. It’s the low income workers who are

Not entirely true.

but either way fine cut them a check and deny those who make more.

But when this is over and everything returns to normal, those who took a check and didn't want money to go to those who make more but still have bank loans, those people should not have one word to say about taxing the rich more or taking their money and spreading it to the poor.

you cant have it both ways.

Orange Man Bad.....

Turn off the news. It is more dangerous than the coronavirus.

I don’t understand this type of answer. Like we can’t see/hear his words and come to the conclusion he’s a fucking useless moron. No, it’s the media who is brainwashing me. It’s ridiculous. Listen. To. His. Words.

do you think Rush Limbaugh, Hannity , or the average Republican was hoping the economy would thrive under Obama?

no cause then their rhetoric would blow up in their face

it goes both ways

Idk about Rush or Hannity, I don’t watch them. My guess would be you’re 100% correct about their opinions. There wasn’t a financial crisis going on when Obama was in office though...oh wait, yeah there was! And Obama didn’t do shit besides let 5 million families get foreclosed on while only bailing banks out. So not a real good example.

I don’t think this needs to get worse for Trump to look like a gigantic idiot and firmly cement his place as the worst leader in American history who failed the entire country during its most pressing time. Nobody wants this to “get worse”. He has fucked himself plenty already
Yeah like trying to give immediate aid while Democrats are blocking it. That’ll really be the nail in his coffin. The election should be a quick and easy win for Democrats after all the families that are being abandoned by them get Trump checks in the mail. Democrats FTW!

Read up on it. Otherwise your post looks dumb.

oh you mean the free fall of the economy he inherited from Bush?

haha he inherited that shit. The reinvestment act of 2009 was a great step in fixing another republican economical fuck up

Tell the folks who got foreclosed on how great the reinvestment act of 2009 was. Too little, too late.

Ha! I never said don’t give the people who earn more a check. My point is that people who are living a certain comfortable lifestyle it shouldnt be beyond reason to have them tone down the luxuries they once enjoyed before.

Not a single president in decades has done much for the American people. Its been mostly stuff for the elites. Thats why the separation of the rich and everyone else has gotten worse and worse. Dont trust any of these people to do anything but throw us a bone while they scratch each others back. Then we can sit around and argue with each and point fingers at which group screwed us normal people more.

Ok, I just read up on it some more. Turns out Democrats are (still) blocking immediate aid and they don’t have an alternative plan that provides immediate aid. They want to give “tax credits” lol.

You know, because people who lost their jobs who’s rent/mortgage is due in ten days totally need to do a bunch of bullshit paperwork that will allow them to (maybe) get some money...in a year or so.

Solid fucking plan man. Glad you’re here to defend it.

Fair enough Nd i never said you did. I said those who do.

well of course toning down would be rational, but that goes for future spending. Whats owed is from transactions already taken place that cant be cancelled.

haha as the greasy republicans tried to sneak in abortion restrictions into the bill

I thought 1099 employees dont get unemployment?

W2 workers pay money into unemployment insurance in payroll deductions.

They will probably change that. Hope everything works out.

Just the opposite.

Self-employed people like me pay the same payroll taxes that you pay, plus we pay the same payroll taxes that your employer pays, for a total of 13something%.

Yeah you’re right in a crazy turn of events, liberal democrats don’t want to give money to people in need! It’s crazy! Who woulda ever thunk it?! Republicans are just dying to give money away and those bastard democrats want to hoard the money for themselves! Fuck the poor, thats their motto after all right? Pull ur head out.

Fucking prove one thing I said wrong!!!

You can’t.

Sorry your political party of choice is deeming itself completely useless in a time of need. And sorry you can’t summon a factual response or a legitimate defense for them.

- every republican voted against the emergency paid leave last week
- Republicans wanted a comfy slush fund of $500b to dole out to whoever they wanted without disclosing who got it for six months
- he got 47 votes for it - not enough even with the democrat filibuster
- refusing additional money for hospitals
- Corp who get bailout can still lay-off workers
- no expanded unemployment benefits

sweet bill I’m shocked democrats didn’t jump all over it. Head. Out.

Your favorite party is stopping money from getting into people’s hands immediately. Period. And on top of that, they don’t have an alternative.

All your bullet points are semantics and not worthy of punishing people in need. They are nitpicky excuses for a Democratic Party that is playing games without the public in mind. They, like you, are more interested in getting their Trump jabs in than actually addressing a major problem. They’d rather see Trumps approval numbers drop than the unemployment, foreclosure and homelessness numbers.

Eh... im a republican but i dont want the money just tossed out there willy nilly. Lets be smart about it. There must be accountability measures put in place to ensure the money goes to where it should.
Who determines who is in need?
Is the laid off 22 year old minimum wage burger flipper who lives in his wealthy parents basement more in need than the 35 yr old single mother of two who makes 70k but is also laid off?

to just toss money blindly and immediately would be foolish.

Im... uncomfortable with the lets throw money at people approach but this is a very drastic, traumatic time for people, a lot of people suddenly by no fault of their own see themselves unemployed, their businesses ravaged. They should turn this into two bills. One bill you help the individuals, the families, the small business’, no sneaking other crap into it, nothing else. The other one is bigger its big businesses’, its corporate crap, thats a bigger problem that they really need to get right and vet out.

Do the first bill FIRST, and quickly and oh no if you send someone 1000 dollars and they dont need it, who really cares if it means hundreds of families can afford food and shelter in the immediate future.

LOL.

Name one 22 year old minimum wage burger flipper who lives with his wealthy parents.

There is no such animal in America.

If there were, it would take years to find out who they were.

Every second the Dems stall, the damage to our country's financial existence quadruples, as does the spread of the virus.

Soon it will be named the Democratic Party Virus, for eternity.

How long is it going to take to dick around with this alternative option, though? Are people going to be ensured they won’t be foreclosed on or evicted in the meantime? This is a pretty pressing issue for a whole lot of people. Just make it universal for the ease of implementation and mail the damn checks already. The government pretending it doesn’t have the money is asinine when corporations are being bailed out.

Maybe the republicans should propose a clean bill just for sending money to individuals, with no secret bailouts for corporations or any of the other crap in the Senate bill. I'm pretty sure the Democrats would vote for that in an instant.

barfo

Sounds great honestly. I don’t know why Democrats would vote for it though, considering their big idea is “tax credits”.
