In an era when players whine and complain about their roles and touches, insist on contribuitng to personnel decisions, and--yes--even demand to be traded, it is unfair to hate on him.</div>

he was a good citizen but he was horrible, the fact that we had to play him just shows how bad we were. he will get no time in memphis
</div>

yes, no one else has any clue what to do on defense, and he constantly gives instructions to his mornic teammates. Again, he should deserve praise for the things he can do, that he always tried hard and got the most out of his ability, that he played hurt without a single complaint. I MUCH prefer to root for Collins than a jackass like _____ (fill in the blank)

Maybe this is a 3 way for JON? We know Indy didn't want any part of Collins so they are looking to replace him and his salary in the trade.

I wasn't actually minding Collins on the bench. He didn't cause any trouble and he was helping with Boone and Williams while Swift is pretty much a waived player because his team doesn't want him around the youth.

Awesome?</div>

I agree, but read my post above about the relative ease of trading their expiring contracts.

Swift will produce more on the court. If he gets time, he can be a decent trade chip.

Swift's worst case scenario is that he's simply an expiring deal - which makes him equal to Collins anyway.
</div>

No, Stro's worst case scenario is that he has to be sent home and told to stay away from the team. I'd rather have McInnis around the young guys than Stro.
</div>

It's still equal same in terms of trade value.

It might even be preferred. An inactive Swift might be easier to buy out by his new team, where Collins will take up a roster spot all season.
</div>

Look back at last year at how much value Magloire didn't have as an expiring contract.

I've got no problem with the trade, but Swift should be bought out and never allowed to wear a Nets uniform

Maybe Stro's last year has a buyout provision and that is why the Nets want him over Collins?

as much as I'm not crazy for Collins, it will in fact be kinda sad to see him go. not for his playing abilities, but because he was a funny guy, and one of our last pieces remaining from the finals years. if kidd goes, then RJ will be the sole survivor from those years.</div>
Why would he be a bench warmer, he's better than Sean and josh boone. He hassn't been given a chance to shine. It would be a waste if he had to sit the bench.

In Houston, he was given the chance to shine next to Yao and he definately didn't.

Much like you do with Vince Carter every day?

Relax man.

I'd be more excited if this trade had happened about 3-4 years ago, when there was still hope for this team. Now, I tend to think it's better for the Nets draft position if Collins sticks around and continues his career of suckitude.

The question is, why does Memphis want to do this? Do they actually think of Collins as a defensive stopper? What did Swift do to get suspended, just bitch and moan, or did he pee on the coach or something?

When I saw "Collins to be traded for Swift," my mind certainly didn't go to a mental image of "ball-gargling." Got anything to tell us John?

I think you're underestimating Collins' effect as a player-coach during practice. Maybe someone will be interested in Swift, but I doubt it at his contract number. One thing I know for sure is that he won't be teaching Boone and Swat how to play man-to-man post defense, and area where they've both improved dramatically over the few months they've been playing.

If Swift was that good would he really be going to his 4th new team? He may have talent but Swift also has some head problems from what i understand, i dont know if the nets need that.

And yeah I like the trade, but i am fearfull of what happens with Swat and JB now.

He's only been traded twice and this would be his 3rd new team not his 4th. How many times has jason kidd been traded? Oh sh!t, he's about to get traded again.

Swift has no talent

Going to the Nets would be his 3rd NBA team as he has had 2 stays in Memphis.

ok I found out what's going on and why this is happening at first I thought Kiki drugged Memphis's GM or did an Isiah and has some pictures of him. What is really happening is that he is striking while he can. MEMPHIS IS HAVING A FIRE SALE !!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>According to the CA and cbssports.com, the Grizzlies and the Nets are talking about a deal that would send Stromile Swift to the Nets for Jason Collins. I believe this to be completely true. I don't know if the deal will take place for sure, but I would think there is a really good chance. I don't even give a crap about that deal to be honest.

<span style="color:#FF0000">What I do care about is the deal that also may come in the next few days. I don't think that we are going to be as happy as we once thought we would be about a Pau deal. I have pontificated on the fact that a fire sale could be coming so that Heisley can save money and position the team to sell it. I think he wants to be able to sell to someone and be able to pitch that they will takeover a product with quite a bit of flexibility that they can do whatever they want with. Unfortunately I think that Wallace was hired to carry out this plan. I hope I am wrong.

There is nothing that Heisley has done in the past 2 years to indicate that he is doing anything but cutting back on all costs. Saving money is what this franchise is about now.

With that being said, look for Pau to be part of a deal that brings back a big expiring contract. If what I think may go down, goes down, people are going to be really pissed. Have you ever considered what Kwame Brown would look like in a Grizzlies uni? I am just asking.</span>
</div>

Pau in a Lakers uni w/ Bynum & Kobe I mean thanks Jerry West

Wow. I dislike Ratner for not willing to spend money to bring in talent, but getting rid of franchise guys before you sell the team is an entirely different animal.

Explain the first move from memphis to houston. Basically what i'm saying is that he was moved only twice and not 3 times like the other guy previously stated.

wow, that makes all the difference. I am, like, totally changing my opinion on Swift now.

Have you heard of free agency? Swift signed with the Rockets as a free agent.

Swift was told to go away by the Grizzlies and only reacquired because it got the Grizzlies Rudy Gay.

The Swift trade is either:

a) An Attempt to keep Kidd happy in NJ with a High Flyer to throw Alley-Oops to

I heard that it might be to free up cash or something to be able to trade Kidd

c) Just a solid trade

What do you think?

Ok I like the swift deal, however I dont like the fact that he is going to take PT away from the youngsters.

he doesn't even know what plays we run, absolutely not, if anything he starts off the bench and fills the roll Collins should have filled, what I'm interested about is when Nened returns who sits Boone or Williams, I love A-51 but it is his rookie season and I'd rather use him w/ Swift as an energy duo off the bench.
