I'm not impressed with any hotel card really.... Another option could be a total rewards card. What do you think of that ultimate rewards? How is the hotel and airline redemptions and who do they partner with?

Only worth it if you travel a shit ton and stay in the same hotel chains. https://upgradedpoints.com/credit-cards/reviews/hilton-honors-american-express-aspire-card/benefits/

That looks dope.

Otherwise get a Chase Sapphire, Capitol one Venture X or Amex Platinum

Family weekend for U of A flying out Thursday to see my daughter down there. Should be a fun weekend get away.

Anyone ever think about using a travel lock for your hotel rooms? I know there are hotel safes, but sometimes u can't trust them.

Amazon product ASIN B077K1YH8Z

We put the Alfredcamera home security app on an old smartphone and leave it in our hotel room. Notifies us anytime someone comes into the room. Very easy to set up and it's free.

We’re staying a week in Palm Springs the first week in April.? Anything fun to do?

we got almost 140k in Alaska airlines points. Hopefully there’s no caveats in that

Do you like golfing? Swimming? Pools? The main drag in town is cool with some cool restaurants, bars, shops. We also usually drive to Venice for a day trip, even if it is long. There’s a casino or two fairly close by. We visited Joshua Tree - that was pretty cool. There’s also a tram.

But we mostly just drink and swim. The resorts we’ve stayed at are pretty dope.

We’re big pool people and gamble a little. We’ve never been before so just trying to get a taste.

it’s a trip for my moms retirement. We got a place with a good setup for the kids.

Pools, golf, restaurants, Indian casinos (which have a lot of concerts) and shopping. It's a resort town. El Paseo in Rancho Mirage is also good for shopping and dining. There's a huge outlet mall in Cabazon which is 20 min away. Date shakes are pretty popular too.

Palm Springs is a lot of gay men. Palm desert, Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells is a lot of retirees, golf courses and resorts.

The aerial tram may still have some snow. I was in Indian Wells on Monday, quick day trip to hang at the pool. It was nice. I used ResortPass to buy a daypass at the pool, which was Vegas-esque.

Lots of mid century modern designs, probably some tours.

Just make sure it's not a coachella weekend, otherwise it may be all fucked up.

There is also some huge gay week or weekend around that time called the white party or something. I think it takes over a ton of pools and hotels and the streets.

The Parker is a cool hotel to check out, although I don't think they let the public go in the garden and pool area anymore. It's really awesome (super expensive to stay there).

There is an Elmer's Pancake House as well as Dutch Brothers.

If you run out of things, I heard the Salton Sea is interesting as is "salvation mountain". I've never been to either personally but they are in the area.

of course El-P jumps in with his “Palm Springs for Dummies” course….

It's popular there. It's an odd culture with so many retirees. Even going out to eat, all wealthy retirees.

The tommy bahama store is huge
I used to volunteer to work the weekly parish bingo game almost 40 years ago, and those old ladies were vicious. If they didn't get exactly the cards/sheets they wanted, they'd tear your heart out and show it to you. And if they lost after all that, it was still my fault. It was a stressful 2 hours. It would be interesting to see how they react in Palm Springs.

Parish life. LOL

Trying to find some good Christmas vibes this winter. I like cities that are cold-ish, lots of lights, big department stores all decorated out, hot apple cider, christmas lights, and all that jazz.

Already did NY which was great and got some in London last year as well. I've done SF and Vancouver in the past and it was pretty good since I went to the Charles Dickens fair, which was really cool.

Thinking maybe Boston may be good? Montreal? Not sure if I wanna do a Eurotrip, if the prices are good maybe.

Gold Rush town Nevada City California is great that time of year....no neon...historical small town nestled in theh Sierras with lots of entertainment within a few blocks area..Victorian Museum, winery, Friar Tucks winebar, Crazy Horse Inn, lots of live music...Lola Montez theatre...gas lamps on the streets..one of my favorite places in Northern Cal...

May just do Disneyland. Maybe Leavenworth. Who knows. There's a dutch village in CA called Solvang, but its not that impressive tbh.
