Was the Vince Carter trade worth it?

Does anyone think the trade for vince carter was a mistake. personally vc is one of my favorite players. ever since he came nets had problems wit big man and there hasnt even been a big winning streak. was the trade a mistake?? what do u guys think???

the way the raps have been playing since vince has been gone has been alright. we are 1 game over .500 since the trade, and in the east that means playoffs.

with RJ down for you guys it wont be long before vince gets all pissy again and decides not to give 100% and starts complaining
 
No it wasnt a mistake. Who did they trade the Williams' And Zo. Man those guys are way better than VC. He has helped y'all out alot. He has been getting around 24 ppg for yall. This guys is truly something special and he will be for a long time to come.
 
lol it was mostly for drafft picks and cap space though^, but you got a good player, but he might start "not trying" like he did for the raptors, cause RJ is out
 
It is to early to tell whether or not this was a good trade because we have to see how Vince acts after losing RJ.

agreed, i believe this trade wont really pan out untill we can see what the team does in the draft during this off-season and also whether or not there big three stays together. if kidd becomes too frustrated or he and vince both sustain career ending injuires the nets are pratically screwed.

lastly considering how good the nets fair in the draft they might could package kidd and vince for some much needed rounded help.

also considering what the nets actually gave up to get vince was not really much; an injury away from retiring center in zo, an unproducing power forward, and a good small forward for a superstar caliber player in vince all works out for me. But as stated before this trade wont pan out untill next year.
 
your forgetting the two important 2 first rounders^ that was basically the deal... for the 2 1sts'
 
Well Aaron Williams wasn't playing much, and had also asked for a trade in the off-season, and Alonzo wasn't going to play because he was saving himself for the contender

So the trade was basically Eric Williams and 2 first round picks for Vince. I don't know how you expected the Nets to go on a win streak when Jefferson got hurt the first game after Vince came. He had been shooting 33% since the Detroit game, and with the Nets not really having any depth or that good complimentary players, no one was expecting anything except maybe some really hopeful people.

i kinda think ur right he will stop playing good. he starts saying everything. if he gets tarded he start saying i didnt give my best when i was a net. hopefully that wont be the situation

i think its ridiculous to say he's gunna start "complaining again" and wont play 100% because the teams not winning. Vince was with the raptors for 4 loosing seasons and was on the verge of going 5 loosing seasons. He was on his 3rd coach in 3 years, and an entirely new front office. The Raps were obviously going young by not trading young talent for current stars, and by not trading their draft pick for a veteran. Vince complained only after all that..and he didnt mail it in until this year. For many years he put up with crap, and although i think he was absolutely wrong for complaining AT ALL and especially wrong for mailing it in. You CANT lable him for the rest of his career because he wanted out of 1 single situation. Vince will give New Jersey 100% just like he did for Toronto during his first 6 years.
I for one think it was a good trade for both teams. If not for Vince the Nets would probably loose all but 5 of their remaining games with RJ now, since they'd have no consistent offense. And Toronto, while not getting anything out of A. Williams or Alonzo was in need of an Eric Williams type player, and i'm hopefull we can bring 2 good rookies (SF,SG) in next year.
 
personally, nj got the worst of this trade unless they do something with their current roster, jkidd is getting older by the min. and his injuries r catching up to him, carter is a residence of the injury list, and with rj out this team is headed no where, or even close to a champion contention, u can't win without a big man, eventhou nj gave up little used players like zo, a.williams, but the 2 drafts were huge, it basically means they gave up on their future and have to win NOW. raps r the obivous winners in the trade, dispite the stats, we got leadership, chemistry, cap room, and 2 1st rounders, for a player who wanted out. the nj fans will cry when they c how much games carter log into the injury list, j-kidd will start asking for a trade again. and i don't think they will ever get a similar trade they had offered. i would start praying for carter, that he won't get injuried, at least not b4 rj comes back. good luck carter.
 
I do not think that you been following the Nets closely. First, Kidd is plays as good as he always did. He pulling off triple doubles or close to them the past 8-10 games. Carter does not seem to be stuggling with Injuries either. Ever since he began playing for the Nets, he has not been on any injury list of any sort.

Second, The Nets dont have to win NOW, they just choose to maintain a winning mentality which will help players learn the system, and young guys to gain experience. The Nets will probably have to win next season. I will expect them to win and be deep in the playoffs next seaon. If they win now, it will simply build stong team character and chemisty which is a huge positive. You also have to remember that the Nets hold two 1st round draft picks (thier own, and one from the Martin trade). I am confident that they will make a beautiful future for them selves with those picks.

If not for RJ they would be serious threats to advance past the second round of playoffs. With the injury, they still could surprise and make the playoffs. Kidd is still the best or tied for the best PG in the league...people are just getting down on him because of an injury that he seems to be recovering from very well. Carter is a top talent. The guy can flat out score. Not a great defender but not the worst on the court. With Collins and especially Kristic still young, and with a 1st rounder next year, they havent given up on a future at all. RJ's a baby...he'll be great for a long time. Carter's got at least 4 or 5 good years in him...MINIMUM. Kidd's getting up there in years but he's a Stockton like player, he doesnt play with his body he uses his head. Kidd could be 40 and still be one of the top PG's in the league.
Dont worry about the Nets. And i'm sure the Raps will do fine as well.
I was once a hater of this trade from a Raptors standpoint, but i've grown to see how it was attractive to both parties involved.
 
I don`t think it was a mistake, but Nets lack chemistry. They have 3 big stars on their team: Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson, and Vince Carter. Now if they can become a decent 3 headed dog, the Nets can really improve from the sub .500.
 
dude u cant judge him so fast look right after this thread he went out and was 1 assist away from a triple double includin 33 points

Lack of Chemistry? Could you offer some evidence to back that up. Just because a team might have three stars on it does not nessarily mean that there will be no chemistry. Site some more evidence, I would be more than thrilled to learn from you.
 
again another huge game not as big but still 3 in a row great game by best
