Re: Washington asked for Rudy in exchange for Jamison

Ok, no sarcasm, just a serious response.

Rudy is a good, not great, wing player. Not exactly an uncommon commodity. He has a bad back and a questionable attitude. His long term future as a Blazer is debatable.

Haywood is a good, not great, player at a position where the team needs help - not just now, but for the future. Why do you assume this is a half season rental? Odds are, the Blazers will be able to re-sign him to a reasonable deal. The next time Oden/Pryz break a hip playing Wii, we will have somebody younger and bigger than Howard to fill in.

I haven't honestly seen a lot of Haywood to make a determination. But I'm in the camp that this season is essentially a wash, we wait for next year and deal with it then. Its not like Rudy's value in trade is going to go down. Haywood, to me, on the surface doesn't seem like he'll make much of an impact. I'm fine with just letting Pendergraph play at the 5 if catastrophe happens and then dealing with it later. Stockpiling mediocre big-men while giving up young, marketable talent who has shown to play well on a high level (olympics) isn't really "up there" on my checklist.

Wow. It must be nice to have that kind of amazing psychic "common sense".

OK, so what's your theory? Why don't the Blazers ever make in-season moves/course corrections?

A) KP is too emotionally attached to "his" players.

B) KP is afraid to take chances and won't pull the trigger unless the deal is hopelessly in his favor.

C) Every other GM hates KP and refuses any deal that won't rape the Blazers.

D) KP actually believes there is some magical "team chemistry" that will implode if he makes a trade.

E) ????????

Why do we need a center when we have Greg and Joel?

Bake it!

Ummm, maybe the reasons that KP has stated over and over again in interviews on the subject.

A. He likes the players on the roster and wants to give them a chance to develop before deciding on other moves.

B. In season trades have the potential to disrupt what the team is doing as you have to integrate new players into the system.

C. Better deals are often available in the summer.

That said, I still think a deal is going to get done this season before the deadline.

To coin a phrase, "Deal coming soon."

lol can you show me where it says we are getting Jamison?

Wiz asked for Rudy and Batum for Haywood. This article neglects to mention that.

This.

If the Wizards had asked for just Rudy + Blake/Outlaw I think Portland may have made that deal. The stuff I read stated the Wiz wanted both Rudy and Batum.

I am pretty sure KP laughed hysterically then hung up on them.

Hell, I wouldn't trade Batum for Haywood straight up much less with other guys thrown in.
