Sorry, that was already discussed and mostly dismissed.

It was!!!??? Damn, I am never first at anything.

Did you guys explain the Pentagon attack too? If not I'll work on it. I don't want to repeat your work.

Nope. We didn't get to that one. Carry on.

I don't think he should be fired. He did not say anything like "I hate gay people", he just gave an opinion that lumped being gay in with heterosexual premarital sex, and said he can't be a good Christian as he is now. I completely disagree with CB, but I think he couched his opinion behind enough religious mumbo jumbo that he should get away with his job. Perhaps a new assignment, or perhaps a public apology (which I always hate), or perhaps with a suspension, but I doubt it's a good ol fashion firing.

So, let me get this straight. It's not okay to bully a homosexual for expressing that he's homosexual, but it is okay to bully a Christian for expressing that he's a Christian?

LOL yes, Christians, who practically run this country, are so fucking oppressed and bullied.

Nomination for the dumbest comment on S2 today.

Are you saying that you can't be Christian without believing that homosexuality is a sin? Because that's essentially what you just said.

Christianity and homosexuality can't be equated in the way you're attempting. Also the rest of the situation is different. I don't see how anyone is "bullying" Broussard for expressing that he's Christian.

Being gay is not a choice, being a Christian is a bad choice.
Just kidding,

I would say no, its not ok in either situation, but thats not what is going on. it's a company that has an image that it hones carefully, and will hire and fire people based on how they fit the company image. IF CB is fired, and I don't think he will be, it is not because he is Christian, it is because he is sharing an opinion on ESPN, as an ESPN representative, that tarnishes the image ESPN promotes.

First of all, fuck you.

Second of all... No, I think "fuck you" covered it.

If he gets fired for expressing his beliefs, then he's absolutely getting bullied.

No, I didn't. Broussard did. Any more than you're saying that it's okay to bully Christians because they're Christians.

Broussard gave his opinion as to whether Collins can be a Christian if he's living a lifestyle that is sinful. As a Christian, I think Broussard is off the mark in his theology, but he's entitled to his opinion and did nothing more than express it as such. He didn't say that Collins shouldn't be allowed to play in the NBA or that he should be in any way discriminated against. I suspect ESPN will have a meeting with Chris and tell him that he should keep his personal religious positions out of his reportage since they're not paying him to cover religious philosophy. That said, are some of you really willing to see a guy lose his means of support simply because he dares to state his beliefs and they differ from yours?

Broussard says it as if your sexual performance is a choice. If that where the case I'm sure all of us would be going to hell.

Just to be clear on what Jason says he believes:
My parents instilled Christian values in me. They taught Sunday school, and I enjoyed lending a hand. I take the teachings of Jesus seriously, particularly the ones that touch on tolerance and understanding.

So, you might see why CB might have dug into him.

The question of whether a person can be a "Christian" and only believe in the parts of the Bible that they agree with, is a good one. Jason opened the door here.

My sexual performance?!? Damn, you cum a little too quickly a couple of times and people start talking about you going to hell.

IMO Christians should look to Christ's thoughts on homosexuality, if he had any

Just to be clear here for those of you who may miss some of what CB was saying, ALL Christians are (and were) sinners. Being Christian is accepting Jesus' sacrifice for our sins. Part of that acceptance is repenting of our sin. There is a difference between sinning and being repentant, and living a lifestyle in sin, being unrepentant, and still saying you are a Christian.

An earlier poster was correct, that nobody who is not a Christian should be expected to live by the standards in the Bible. Why would they? But, Jason is holding himself out here as a Christian--at least to some extent.

when can we all just get over these religions. They are a drag man!

Technically, if CB eats shellfish he isn't following the teachings in the bible either. Literal interpretation is tricky place to tread, especially Leviticus.

Matthew 19:4-6

4 And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made[a] them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?[c] 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

Old Testament vs. New Testament (thats why we follow jesus)

Jesus broke all the old testament rules so that we dont have to follow them... lot of examples i can get into

Seems weird Christ never mentioned it, yet people who worship him seem so caught up in it for some reason

Kinda silly

What's this? I leave for an hour to post in other threads, and the Religious Right takes over the thread?

Can't you gays keep up ANYTHING without me???

It is not an old testament doctrine. It is mentioned all through the new testament too. Mostly by Paul.
