Way too early trade suggestions (2 Viewers)

I don't see why. Giannis is still dominant. Deni can space the floor when their together.

Although Camara would be much better to keep with that roster instead of Sharpe.

The main issue is we gut our youth, lose a half decade of picks, and still aren't a contender.

I'd rather just stand pat. Try to get off Jrue or Grant contact if any other teams interested. Continue to develop our youth and swing for a good starter with the picks.
That’s all we ever seem to do is stand pat and talk about getting younger. Seems like we’re never really ready to make that big move.

Exactly. Giannis was the #1 on a championship team and he’s still in his prime. Having a Top 2 player in the NBA helps if you’re trying to contend. He’s a 2 time MVP, a Finals MVP, All Star MVP, and DPOY. Why would we not want him?

Also, Giannis would probably be the best player to ever play for the Blazers. So there’s that.

Scoot, Camara, Rupert, 2 FRP & their picks back. Giannis reunites with the PG he won a championship with. Deni would be the best two way player he has ever played with and he would contend this year:

Jrue/Sharpe/Deni/Giannis/Clingan

Bench: Love, Cissoko, Murray, RW3, Grant, Tisse, Wesley, Reath

I don't think that works money wise. We'd probably have to trade them Grant in any deal.

We haven't even paid off the "big" moves Olshey mortgaged picks for in acquiring Larry Nance. That's why we still owe Chicago our draft pick. We also gave up two picks for Robert Covington. Olshey partner in Cronin gave up all the assets to draft Jalen Duren for the "honor" of paying Grant $160 million.

Aging stars over 30 like Giannis just don't get teams titles anymore. Better to try and get another young Deni or Camara, as opposed to teams like the Nets, Clippers, Rockets, Suns, 6ers, Lakers, who failed when acquiring Durant, Paul George, Kawhi, Westbrook, Durant, Paul George, Westbrook.

This would be a desperation deal that if it didn't work ( and it's highly unlikely to work) it would hamstring the team.

Not saying that Giannis isnt one of the best, but the trade wouldn't even make it past the sniff test.

The highlight of the trade is Tou, and maybe their picks coming back.

Scoot is a big unknown, Rupert has almost no value.

Yes there is draft assets, but there is 0.0 chance this would be the best offer the Bucks would receive.

The Bucks would at bare minimum want Shaedon (and I'm not saying he is on the same level as Giannis), and most likely would request Deni to start with.

I just wish trade rumors were reality adjacent.

Why would Portland want to help the Lakers by giving them Williams for just cap space when they can keep him until the end of the season and just not resign him? A future 1st or nothing.

Everyone is allowed to dream the team the way they want. In my dream world, the team doesn't screw up the family/go through brick walls for each other vibe that now exists, by actions that say, "Yea...I know I said that...and thanks for the hard work....but we're trading you to the ice and snow".

It also speaks to the players remaining.

Anyway...carry on.

I think of this way, the big time trades rarely pay off. For every Kwahi and Rasheed, there is a Durant going to Brooklyn or Phoenix, or Paul George going to the Clippers or 76ers, or James Harden, or Damian Lillard.

Think the Bucks would take that trade back if they could??

(yes Davis going to the Lakers helped, and Durant won a title with the Warriors, but it's not like they weren't already a title contender).

Durant to the warriors was not a trade, was it?

I think you're missing the actual impact of several 'big-time-trades'. Yeah, a lot fail, eventually, and sometimes soon. But many resulted in championships...

Paul George-->SGA+Jalen Williams-->OKC
AD-->Lakers-->Doncic (unknown if latter succeeds, 1st did for sure, once)
Aaron Gordon-->Nuggets
KG/Pierce-->Nets-->picks to Boston-->Tatum/Brown
Pau Gasol-->Lakers
KG/Allen-->Celtics
Jrue-->Bucks
Jrue-->Celtics
Shaq-->Miami
Kidd-->Mavericks
Moses Malone-->76ers
Clyde-->Houston (although as you pointed out they were already a champion)
Rodman-->Bulls (ditto)
Jabbar-->Lakers (fuggin lakers)

and there have been other big-time trades that at least elevated teams from middle-of-pack or pretender to almost-contender/contender and added excitement for the fans: Barkely-->Suns; Gobert-->Wolves; KAT-Knicks/Randle-->Wolves; Mitchell-->Cavs

all that said, I think it would be a big mistake for Portland to go all-in on a Giannis trade. For one thing I don't believe the suggested price will be close to enough. For another, Giannis will be turning 32 early next season. And contrary to what some believe, even if the price didn't include Avdija I still think Giannis/Deni would be a very awkward mix. The best version of either player is as primary facilitator and there's only one ball. Giannis is no good as a catch-n-shoot/spot-up option, so Deni would be relegated

I'm sick of "best player on the team" trades. It was blindingly obvious that Jrue was the most impactful player in the trade, and he proved it by winning again in Boston.

I mean, i'd take Thiero, Kleber and their 2nd at this point. We would cut Kleber immediately

Golden State has been trying to make him that for 4 years. Why would it be any different here?

Honestly, I get Ayton like vibes from Kuminga. Don't want him, but his contract expires after this season so as a dump I wouldn't mind taking a flyer.
Couldn't we have said the same for Deni?
