out of Avdija, Camara, Murphy, and Jones, which two are backups?

so, this season the new salaries would push Portland into the tax; next season it would be nearly 8M more than Grant; the season after it would be nearly 14M more

hard to know what the Pels are going to do. Dumars is the GM and the odds seem to indicate he might do something stupid

I like the idea of adding depth and even more length, but all 4 of those players are mostly SF/PF. But I do think the Blazers will have to be cautious about loading their roster and salary cap with role players. They have a lot of those already. Maybe Deni will climb out of being a high-level role player to star level. But even as a star player and #1 option he has some limitations to his game. I'm inclined to say that Portland should keep their powder dry and hope for an opportunity to trade for another star-level player. Neither Murphy or Jones are that

Why would the Pels trade their good young players?

The trouble is, everyone wants to offload their old, overpaid has-beens. Not exactly a buyer's market

Every Blazer should be available for the right offer. Would you put Deni in the hypothetical 3rd or maybe 2nd option category on a contender? I just don't see where POR's number 1 is coming from. Supposed to be a good draft class but POR's FRP may convey to CHI. I was under the impression that it would be better to have CHI take that pick i.e. POR makes the post-season. CBA experts would know more than me how that could play out.

Deni has played as good as Jaylen Williams and a number of others who won titles.

Not saying anyone is untouchable, but none of our guys are going to fetch an MVP type of player in return where we'd feel good about them being able to lead us to a title. Deni and Camara are the two guys who could most easily play in the starting lineup of a contender. The rest of the roster is a lot of maybe's.

yeah my feeling as well. Toumani's shot has been off but I suspect it will come around at some point

What's the lineup look like with Markannen? Camara seems like a great 5th starter for his defense, so are we sending Sharpe to the bench? Running Markannen at C? I know we can improve everywhere, because we're not some top flight team, but I don't think this makes us one either.

This.

That's the kind of trade you make if you are a player away from contending.

This would be a lateral move at best. Deplete depth. Deplete resources to rebuild that depth. It's making the Blazers a different kind of team but at a similar level without as much upside.

Murphy and Jones would be backups. But, yeah I hear you.

Weird to think we still have a player many consider potential star in Scoot. I think we have enough potential stars that I would be more apt to trade for filler players meaning guys that can fit our system. Players that don’t cost a lot but can fill roles. I would love some of the big names being thrown around but I think we are still a year maybe two from making that kind of decision of going all in. Two retread guys that would be nice fit in our system and wouldn’t cost much

1. Watford
2. Nance Jr

Both are starting quality players. The Pelicans would also want Scoot.
Yeah I’m not ready to trade Scoot till we know exactly how good he is. Getting a great PG isn’t easy to find and giving him up before we even know if he is going to be a star would be a Jermaine O’Neal type mistake. We don’t need big trades yet, I want good filler bench players ideally athletic forwards to come off bench and fill role
