Way too early trade suggestions

I don't understand why forward would be the biggest need when its the only position we have 2 quality long term starters.

Center I'm not convinced Clingan will ever be a 30+ mpg starter. He's certainly a role player but might be best as a backup to a more mobile center.

Guard spots we don't have any quality starter.

Sure if we get an allstar forward you could make some sort of rotation work with Deni/Camara. But its not a need that should be targeted.

I think Shae is a quality starting SG.
I think between Scoot, Jrue, and Dame, we gave a quality starting PG

Your post said "long-term". Dame and Jrue don't have a long term.

Shae and Scoot are questionable starting quality at best. I don't see how they can be ranked ahead of Deni and Camara.

I hope when reports say that we are going to be buyers as the deadline approaches that what we buy is upgraded young talent. Mortgaging our future to have a chance over the next couple of seasons with a core unit of Dame, Jrue, Jerami, Tisse, Rob and hopefully a couple of our young guys along with an aging all star or two would result in a couple of first or second round exits starting next season followed by another rebuild.

Giannis or BUST. I want to see a lineup of:

Dame
Jrue
Deni
Giannis
Clingan

if anything it seems like this team is doubling down on the future. they're drafting project bigs from china.

we're 2 games back of the warriors and they want rob williams. cute. they have 1 second and I highly doubt they're giving us a first for him.

what could they have that we'd want?
Matching with them gets tricky, because they're hard capped at the 2nd apron, and only 264K from it. And they are over the 1st apron and can not aggregate. I guess you can take a flyer on Kuminga if you wanted? RW3 and Rupert for him works in January. Does't seem all that enticing to me, though. I know Sacramento was interested in him in the off-season, so maybe you can flip him there in a 3 team, but also not tons I want from Sacramento.

Pat Spencer. Will Richard. Maybe Quinten Post?

I think Kuminga would fit in nicely with the young running Blazers. There would be a logjam at forward if the guards ever got healthy and Deni
played primarily forward. But I am tired of worrying about people being upset about minutes when they are always hurt.

Kuminga is a lost cause. Kerr will play anybody who knows how to play. Quinen Post can't jump over a kerb but gets solid minutes because he's smart. That should tell you all you need to know about Kuminga.

Why would we want to keep RW3? Move him for assets. Even if it were 2nds. I don't see us resigning him. We aren't going to win anything this year.

Why would we want to keep RW3?
Because he's good at basketball? Because I love watching him play? Just spitballing here. Fucking tired of living for tomorrow.

But the main reason is: everybody after him thinks they can get him for peanuts because he's damaged good. Well I'd rather have him than peanuts. Especially as the teams after him include the Warriors and almost certainly the Lakers, who can GO FUCK THEMSELVES

I would be very disappointed (and frankly amazed) if we pick up broken down old nags like DeMar DeRozan at the trade deadline. Yes, I know, we picked up Dame, but we didn't have to give anybody up for him and HE'S FUCKING DAME.

I predict we'll only make a move if we think the guy has Deni-potential, and we won't trade for anybody the wrong side of 28. So Keon Ellis - maybe. DeRozan - no chance. Giannis? You think the Bucks would give him to us without asking for Deni AND Shae AND Scoot?

Well, they are 14-15 with all that talent.... maybe he should try something different.

I think I am going to stay out of this thread, which could be renamed "Way too early suggestions to turn the Blazers into the Kings."

so...what the Spurs want to do is trade one player for a better player....radical thinking
Yeah a player they are giving like 16 minutes a game to and they want an upgrade.

Well the good news for them and bad news for us and everyone else is that they've got the picks to make it happen. A boatload of second rounders (16 if I'm counting correctly) and all of their own first rounders with a ton of swap options that all favor them, except in 2027 when they have Atlanta's 2027 FRP with no protections but there's is going to the Kings or the other unfairly stacked team OKC.

I mean, we see these trades frequently in the NBA. If you ignore age and contract status then yes, a lot of trades can look odd.
