The only thing about Love and Cissoko. Right now the Blazers are the only team that can sign them to real contract. Once the season is over, every team has the same chance at them. (at least that is how i understand it). OK, I just read some more. Blazers can make a qualifying offer to them after the season; this will make them restricted free agents and Blazers can match any offer make by another club.
That's exciting. I think they should both get multiyear deals on the cheap.

Pretty sure since we wouldn't have his bird rights, We could only match up to whatever exceptions we have available. If someone really falls in love and has a higher exception or cap space that is more than our exceptions, we may not be able to sign him.
MLE is what $15 million per year? Love isn't getting that.

Im not sure Towns is better than Clingan.

It's just so hard to create a solid defensive team around Towns. Minnesota was perfect. The Towns Brunson duo is fundamentally flawed.

Then you also factor in Towns supermax contract. Just not a very valuable player.

Maybe a team like New Orleans with their wings could use him if they moved on from Zion. The Spurs would be a wild idea but I doubt they want a Towns type of player. The Bucks are another type of team in theory could make sense.

Grant, Thybulle, Rob for Jimmy and Kuminga.

What more fillers can we add to work with this framework?

Huge cost savings for us to swap Grant for one year of Butler.

I DON'T WANT KUMINGA. Having said that, I wonder if Jimmy Butler going down has made trading him more likely or less?
On the side of More: they want to replace him with a veteran of more use than Kuminga (Jerami? Jrue?)
On the side of Less: his value is at its nadir right now, and they might as well give up trying to win and just play him as much as possible.

Are you aware that Jimmy Butler is making FIFTY FOUR MILLION DOLLARS this year? A full 22 million more than Jerami?

I was just trying to look at similar swaps, but think that Kuminga just makes way too much to combine.

Primarily a long term cost saving for Portland. We take a flyer on a semi interesting player in Podz, and maybe Butler comes back next December when we look to make a legit playoff push, or, he's a huge expiring for trades then or the off-season.

I think Kerr would never part ways with Podz. And I want to take a flyer on a guy like Kuminga instead.

And will be making 36 million less than Jerami 2 years from now.

I prefer that to Kuminga, but what's Golden State's incentive (unless they've got another Kuminga trade lined up), but Podz gives off real asshole vibes.

Jimmy has 54 for one year. Grant is at 34 and 36 the next two.
At this point, after all the injuries on our players. I rather have Grand's 34m next year, playing, than Butler's 54m, sitting on the bench. I am not for wasting one of the last years of Dame's career just to save money. A healthy body is a healthy body at this point. We will probbaly need available bodies next year.

This one would make me happy, as we get even deeper and lenghtier. We could then move any combination of RW3, Murray, Matisse, Rupert, Reath for future picks and call it good.

Kuminga is just far too expensive combined with Butler. I can't see it happening. Maybe instead of Podz, could be two other low salary guys, Melton and Richard? And GS throws in a 2nd in place of keeping Podz. Then we use that 2nd to dump those 2 on a different team, giving us the roster spots for Love and Cissoko.
I don't LOVE it, but can get behind something similar.

Just heard it be reiterated that Portland does have interest in Kuminga, still.

Saldama and Jovic for Grant?! How many firsts are we adding? That seems like a coup for Portland...not that I'm against that.

I can see them trading Rob Will and Tisse for draft capital and converting Sidy and Caleb's contracts from two way to regular roster...they could also move Wesley instead of Tisse depending on where they feel the bigger playoff need. We are now 6th in defense and 12th in offense.

Allows the Blazers to sign Love. Maybe waive Butler to then sign Cissoko?

This is a terrible trade for us. The Warriors get three win now players and we get a broken 36 year old Jimmy Buttler making the supermax this year and next and a guy the Warriors don't think is good enough to get playing time.

I like the idea of taking a flyer on Kuminga but that shouldn't mean we need to give them this many good players.

I have said it before. Jerami and Duop should be able to land us Kuminga and Moody. Maybe we would have to include a FRP like the least desirable of our 2029 picks.

Butler would never even set foot in POR, unless on another team. It's beneath him. Huge waste of time.
