Way too early trade suggestions (6 Viewers)

Dame has played a full season with Grant already.

I think Dame is much more excited to play with Camara and Deni than Grant. I don't see him stopping a Grant trade.
Stand corrected for some reason I thought he came when Dame announced....

What exactly does attaching draft capital mean for the Wiz? A 2nd rounder....no problem. A 1st rounder...no fucking way.

Jrue Grant Timelord
Butler Kuminga Melton

I'd do that deal. Saves us massive salary in 2027-28, take a flyer on Kuminga for a few months, maybe Butler gets healthy next year and can finally play a few games with Dame or we flip him somewhere else.

Warriors get three rotational players to make a playoff run with Steph this season. Warriors still have all their picks for another move.

Can not see Portland going in to the tax to tank.

The salaries are close on that deal - we could do a minor move to duck the tax or send Melton/filler to a 3rd team/etc

The idea wouldn't be to tank - it would be taking a flyer on Kuminga and getting off old overpaid vets that aren't part of our long term core.

We move our starting PG, when we don't know when Scoot is or will come back. We move a 20 PPG bench scorer. We move our backup C. We gain a guy who has struggled to get minutes on a team consistently better than us desperate for bodies and youth. I don't see how that proposal doesn't look to make us worse in the immediate.

It very well might make us worse - but that's different than tanking. Deni, Camara, Sharpe and Clingan have been our 4 best players. If Kuminga blows up it might be a more lateral move. I'm not saying we should start CJ Elleby for 20 games like Cronins first season.

The main advantage to the Blazers with those moves is 2-3 years from now. I'm more interested in maximizing that roster than a move or standing pat to get a couple extra wins this season.

I'm still hoping the Blazers win every game this year - I'd just prefer we build the roster primarily to peak the following two seasons. IMO Butler expiring deal and Kuminga team friendly one are more valuable than Grant+Jrue will have earning $140million in 6 months.

So 2-3 years from now, we still have that core 4 you mentioned. Are they better having gained playoff experience this year? Is there any difference?
I suppose tanking wasn't the right word, but I imagine it would be demoralizing to a locker room fighting their asses off night in and night out to say we're making a trade to remove those 3 pieces that contribute for a young guy who we "hope blows up" and an injured guy.
I'm not a 100% stand pat advocate, but these guys want to win, and they deserve to be given more opportunity than removing 3 smaller contributors for hope of some other guy who, again, can't get minutes on a team desperate for bodies, because he looks for his own shot as opposed to trying to find Curry when he's hot.
