That just doesn't feel like enough to get back for Timelord.

Valanciunas doesn't seem to be a fit with what the Blazers already have. He'd be redundant. He'd almost have to be going somewhere else. Or getting let go.

And the sweetener is a 23-year old coming back from an Achilles' injury who only has played 12 games in his career? I realize he shoots the 3 well, but he just doesn't seem like that good a bet to amount to much.

I'm all for finding young players that were undervalued like Deni, but Holmes is basically Duop, isn't he? I'd rather have draft picks than do a trade like this.

I don't see Denver moving Jonas. I think he is a better player than Rw3 too.

I don't think we keep Rw3 next year. At this point i'd move him for another expiring contract and a 2nd. That's the value I think he has around the league right now.

He just seemed like a cheap flyer to take. I'd be more interested in him than a 2nd rounder in an RW3 swap, and don't really expect we can get a whole lot more. Val just seemed like someone to fill minutes so that we weren't moving RW3 with nothing behind him.

My ideal target would be JJJ. 26 years old. 2-time all-star. Defensive Player of the year in 2023. Shoots 35% from 3. The only drawback I see is his salary of $200M/4 yrs. But with Deni on a club friendly deal, Sharpe locked up on a solid deal, and other expiring contracts over the next few years, I don't see that hampering the Blazers.

What would it reasonably take to get JJJ?

I'd flip Holiday for Grant if that's more appealing to Memphis.

Too high? Too low?

I'd be excited to see this lineup going into next season -

I foresee a Blazer team that really struggles to defend on the perimeter. At least in that starting five.

Bridges is what this team needs averaging career-highs in rebounds (4.4), assists (4.2), steals (1.6), and blocks (0.9).

I imagine Joe makes a very small deal to shuffle stuff up. No big moves. The new cba is murder. That is my prediction

But how does the lineup work?

Deni/Shae/Bridges/Tou/Clingan

Who is the point guard?

I would not give up all those draft picks for Bridges.
But I would not mind getting him. So far, he has been pretty durable. He plays two positions in case Shae gets hurt.

I don't think you start that lineup above, but when they are all in at the same time, then of course the PG would be Deni.
If we ever did make a trade for a starting forward, Tou comes off the bench. Not a big deal in my mind, he is too important not to get big minutes off the bench.

I think that really depends on how likely RW3 and MT are to sign a new, smaller contract. I would be surprised if at least one of them goes out so the Blazers do not lose talent for nothing...

Bridges is not worth those MIL picks.

Gross.
Picks are just gambles. Bridges is not only a great TEAM player (who showed he could be a scorer if needed in Brooklyn) he's an ironman. I mean, I love Matisse, but Bridges has NOT EVER MISSED A GAME (I think). He would fit the Blazers "culture" perfectly (and mean that we can dump Rupert to sign one of our 2-ways).

I don't think it will happen (most trades don't, and I can't see the Bucks wanting KAT) but I wouldn't be mad.

You only cash in the picks if it's for a player that takes this team to contender level. I don't think Bridges does that.
We have people on this board that think Scoot is going to end up a player that takes this team to contender level. It feels like deja vu all over again with the "Bake the cake" mantra we heard for years.

I think the question is, does Scoot fit the starting five?

We have two guys who need the ball in their hands. Deni and Shae.

Do those guys play better with a distributor like Scoot, or do they play better with a defender/shooter who can pass a bit? Jrue would have been amazing 10 years ago. He's too old now. Maybe Scoot could be that guy? If he can become a 40% three point shooter and a very good defender, he might be perfect. Scoot has the right attitude to fit with Deni and Shae.

My biggest concern about Scoot is that he's extremely injury prone. Even before coming to Portland. Dude can't stay healthy. He's the anti-Dame.

Honestly, he is giving me Jameer Nelson vibes. Could he become better than that? Maybe. But a one time all star is a decent career. I just don't see him becoming a guy that puts us over the talent hump to become a contender. Really hope i'm wrong.

That is a legitimate question. I have pondered it as well. But what happens when Deni is out to rest or injured for a few games? They need a true PG then. As you alluded to, we need to see how much he has improved as a shooter. If he has, I see no problem with them being on the floor at the same time since Scoot can always push the pace and defer to Deni if the break is not there.
