Crazy to see how little Kuminga went for. Couldn't we have done Thybulle and Timelord? I feel like that's a better return for the Warriors.

They wanted a roster spots to convert Spencer. 2-1 they did gives them that. 1-2 does not. Thybulle and Timelord adds 2.5 to their salary this year. Porzingas deal shaves about a million this year, plus the 3ish owed to Hield next season.

Now you are correct the Deni trade has worked out awesome.

My post still stands even with Deni we don't have a great young core. There's no path for this roster to contend soon even with another good move. We're kind of praying Scoot or Sharpe miraculously becomes a star, which just doesn't seem likely.

Personally while I like most the picks we haven't hit on one like teams need to contend. My biggest issue in the Cronin era has been the irrelevant vets we've overpaid massive salaries to.

Interested to see how Cronin looks under Dundon. But if we get a new GM soon I won't be upset either.

Yeah on the one hand agree with you - but Kuminga is going to want shots and minutes. Maybe the Blazers just weren't interested in him potentially screwing up team chemistry.

Yeah there's not only the apron but also the tax teams try to get under. It seems like half the league will be trying to just get under one of those limits at this as well as future trade deadlines.

It's a good way to pick up 2nd rounders if a team has room under the lux tax. Perhaps that was going to be our plan last summer to have that flexibility, but then we ended up signing Dame for the full MLE.

He was a good player for us, the clippers, and the heat. Kind of at CJ level except better defense. Both of these guys are normally not quite Allstars but very close and above average starters. I'm not real hung up on who actually becomes an all-star, plenty of other years Deni wouldn't have got it like this year.

With Norm I wish we had hung onto him, NAW, or at least got more than a pile of beans when trading him away. It was obviously a stupid trade at the time too.

Certainly not a good use of Blazers asset on the roster. If you give Cronin credit for Deni also need to ding him for the moves that squandered value.

Where would you rank that core in the NBA?

While I am excited for some of our youth, honestly it doesn't rank up very high even with teams that have been winning the whole time and not tanking.

Would love to be wrong and Scoot or Sharpe become a star. But Im just not seeing a realistic path to go from here to contend in a long long time

We made about as marginal of a trade as we possibly could have. I don't think Vit gets us any wins this season and I don't think he gets us any higher in the lottery. I do like the move for the future if the idea is to build around Deni and go young but if that's the idea I don't see why no vets were moved.

He addressed a significant need (3pt shooting) for minimal assets. We'll see what happens this summer but my guess is they want to see this core around Dame to some degree.
