League sources tell @CBSSports that the 2015-16 salary cap could be as much as $2 million higher than projected. http://cbsprt.co/1Nu3Cll

But their hit is only 35% right? so not dollar for dollar
Correct. (30% for a 7-9 yr vet like Aldridge and 25% for 0-6 yr vet like Monroe).
If the CAP was actually $69.1M, adding in Aldridges new max of $19.5M, that would leave the Blazers with $15.7M free, and Monroe's max would be about $16.3M. Still not quite enough.

At this point I think letting Aldridge walk and signing Monroe and looking for a 3rd star might be more prudent. I dunno. I'm not going to be torn to shreds if Aldridge leaves like most.
What 3rd star?

This is a very frightening time as a Blazer fan, I'm scared we're going to lose LMA and Wes and only have Gerald Henderson and Aminu to show for it starting.

Well we probably will lose those two players but it's still really early to be looking ahead to next year's draft. It's still June........... in Oregon!

I would not be surprised to see some guys we like now involved in a trade for a 3rd big name

It's pretty much 100 degrees down here everyday, summer sucks.

It's inevitable..Oregon is going to turn into the California central coast weather wise in a few years. Then stars will want to play here. All we needed were avocado groves and lemon trees.

@kpelton: Have Al-Farouq Aminu's value projected at $34M over next 3 years (farthest out I project players). So Blazers $30M deal could be good value.

What a waste of money and what a waste of a roster spot, even if he's only a guy at the end of our bench.

He flat out cannot shoot and he's grossly over-rated as a defender. I am extremely disappointed in Neil, I really thought he was going to go after someone who would immediately improve our team.

The fact he agreed to the deal within the first hour of free agency should draw the attention of the league as it implies negotiations started before allowed.

Thats great and all but I don't think it's going to keep Aldridge in Portland. Neil needs to swing harder!

I "liked" this post just so I could "unlike" this post.

Eh, he's not exciting, but like I said before we signed him, he sounds like RHJ, and he's not that much older, but if he's the big free agent move though...
