Chris Haynes said confidently today that Zion is available, Vegas odds flipped heavy tonight in favor of Miller going #2… and Pelicans want Scoot.

THIS IS THE TIME… GET ZION

Dame gets his chance at a title in Portland, and with Zion being only 22, it also gives a bright future with Zion/Sharpe duo… DO IT JOE!

It could be that Charlotte checked with Zion and he told them he didn’t want to play for them so last thing want to do is trade for a disgruntled Zion.

no way any team trades for Zion without knowing whether he wants to go there.

Or... they just really, really like Brandon Miller.

I hypothesized the other day that they were leaking they were taking Scoot so they could jump the line and see what offers they could get.

So in my opinion, they canvassed the league for offers and determined: We'd rather have Brandon Miller.

Hes on the take with Vegas. He knows his tweet will move the line. His 'friends' take the opposite side and make a boat load of money
Wow! That would come out so quickly and ruin him. That being said is everyone at Bleacher Report, SI and SBNation in on this scheme too because they're all reporting that the Hornets are taking Miller at least that's where they are headed. Maybe it's all a ruse to drive up offers for Scoot but I don't see how that would work because people know we're open to moving pick 3. Nah, this just seems like the dude that the Hornets were reported to want since they landed the second pick in the lotto (until a 36 hour detour that just ended) is the dude they are going to draft.

I know. I was being sarcastic. Not sure how to do green font...

They've been reported to have been all in on Miller for a while now and then for less than two days they were reported to be wavering and now they're back where they've been all along. These guys like Miller, there is a lot to like.

I'm wondering what LAC wants... because there's no way I'm giving them #3 for George.

Simons/Little/Keon/couple future picks?

Then I wonder if we could do a sign-and-trade of Grant/Scoot for Zion/Herb?

Dame/??
Sharpe/Thybulle
George/Herb/Knox
Zion/Watford
Nurk/Eubanks

Is that a contender? The ultimate boom/bust lineup in the history of the league.

Sorry, I'm in sports drama mode... it doesn't impact my real life but it makes me very reactionary on this board. It's an exciting time to be a Blazers fan and that was a funny joke. Sorry again!

Zion is, to date, arguably the most overpaid player in the history on the NBA on his current contract. He has barely been healthy since leaving high school. He doesn't shoot threes and he's dependent on his athleticism, which is not going to protect him in the future from injuries and/or provide promising production as he ages.

No. Let New Orleans stew in the juices they created when they gave him the massive extension in spite of him barely playing for them on his rookie deal... the same way Washington was moronic and gave Beal a no trade clause and had to take garbage back.

Hornets fans apparently don't think there is anything to like.

They're losing their minds.

I still want to move Nurk for a better fit. I think him and Zion would make for poor spacing... just two guys that are very very big. Not ideal for today's free flowing NBA.

Not a contender. I would be so bummed out if that's where we land.

Agreed but we would need someone at center in the meantime, and I'm not seeing any options to have a center come back in either of those trades.

Might as well plan on:

Dame
Sharpe
Herb
Watford
Eubanks

...

So no, not a contender.

If we are to assume that 3 players, that haven't been healthy, are all going to be healthy at the exact same time ... sure it's a contender.

If George and Zion are actually healthy, and I know that's a MASSIVE if, then I think it's 100% a contender. The problem is that I think it's highly highly unlikely that they're both healthy.

Hornets fans apparently don't think there is anything to like.

They're losing their minds.
Fans like to be local about what they don't like and then the fans that are cool with it just sit there happy and relatively quiet. Scoot was a bad fit with LaMelo and Miller has a ton of potential. Rageaholics are going to rage.

. . . Maybe it's because this pillar of the community who is Dame Lillard could help a young man with so much promise who is struggling to make mature decisions.
Yes, that’s possible, but it’s also possible Zion is extremely immature, and that he will continue to make stupid mistakes for the rest of his career. Given his aloofness as a teammate (he never welcomed CJ to the team), and his history of injuries, why would we want to pass on a young star like Scoot Henderson who has tremendous potential and a very bright future? The Blazers have a golden opportunity to take a dynamic young point guard with no character issues who two years ago eliminated all fried foods from his diet in order to be the best player he could possibly be, and who can make the franchise and the city proud, and I’m hoping they do it.

Sorry you don’t see this, but I suspect you are blind to a lot of things that others can easily understand.

With full health, we'd be amazing offensively... but of course there is diminishing returns with lots of scorers since we won't have five guys scoring 25ppg a game.

Defensively, healthy or no, this would be a truly terrible team.

...unless you were being sarcastic about not being sure how to do green font.

I had a really good feeling about Shaedon Sharpe last year, and I have a really good feeling about Scoot Henderson this year.

I still think the best option is to take Scoot. I understand that might piss Dame off. So be it.

I would probably rather have Zion with Dame, Shaedon, Grant and role playing pieces around them that equal the value of PG13 but that's just me. If we start the season with Dame, Zion, PG, Shaedon and Nurk with an towards tweaking things where they need to be tweaked I'll be thrilled to see what that group could do. Far worse things that shooting for the stars but again my preference would be one shot for the stars (Zion) and solid supporting moves than two shots for the stars (Zion and PG) and then trying to fill in the cracks after that.

At the end of the day, if the Blazers end up with either Scoot, Miller, or Zion… I will be happy!

It's logical, Scoot seems like a real force of nature at PG. I think with the kinds of names that are rumored to be available for Scoot, Dame would have to be livid if we took a rookie PG instead of one of the handful of established talents that are reported to be available at positions where we truly need help. I think picking and keeping Scoot would be the same as telling Dame we're trading him but who the fuck really knows?

Cool. You keep doing you then. You really seem to have a level head about things. Good luck in your virtue signalling campaign.

so...we now have the NateBishop feelings gauge as a template!

Problem is I think Magic are fine with Fultz and Suggs. They’ve invested a lot in them.

They would like an improvement with someone who can shoot. Both of them have tremendously underperformed their Draft position. There are some people down there that really like Ant and bringing him 'home' is attractive.

The Blazers lacked talent at every position off the bench last season.
One way the team could get significantly better is to put together a much better bench.
Scoot and Sharpe (or Simons) could be key parts of a much better bench.
