Windhorst hinted a major trade is happening on Friday.

Why Friday? Does it have to come after the draft to avoid the Stepien rule?

Aren't we under it right now preventing us from moving both our picks before Friday?

Hmm
Link?

OK I want Scoot.

These aggregator sites are something else:

Among the reasons are that Miami has eyes for another prize: Damian Lillard. There is intense league-wide interest in what the Blazers will do this week. Portland holds the third pick in Thursday’s draft and right now are showing no interest in dealing it, sources say. The Blazers have been burning up the phone lines looking for upgrades that will satisfy Lillard—Toronto’s OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam are two players they have discussed, per sources—but to this point have rebuffed overtures to trade a pick that will position them to draft either G-League star Scoot Henderson or Alabama big man Brandon Miller.

The new tweet or whatever you call it from Mannix just tells me this :

Teams are still low balling the Blazers and they are just saying they can live with selecting at 3 and they are not just going to give away the 3rd pick for junk OR it's complete BS but again who knows and we should not read too much into it either way.

So we're trying to get Pascal or OG w/o using the #3 pick?

Don't know how that works lol

I gamed it out a bit. If the Nets are looking for mostly the #3 pick and filler, we could send them the pick and some players not including Ant.

Then we send Ant and some future picks to Toronto for Siakam.

We would have to talk to Chicago about removing our restrictions so we could attach a couple future picks to this deal with Toronto.

Dame

This was the best news I’d read in days.

They’re approaching teams with Ant and other picks as the package and not throwing 3 around willy nilly.

I would tell NO if they want the number three pick we need Murph, & Jones (they would have to find a way to include Jones) and their 14th pick. We wouldn't have to give up Simons along with pick and it would address two priorities the team has the way I see it, Point of attack defender & a wing that can flat out shoot.

Yuck

So you'd rather have Murphy and Jones (two role players) and pick 14 than Zion?

Oh and if you want Murphy and Jones you literally don't have to send any players back for them. They both would fit into our TPEs.

Yep, Jones is one of the best if not the best POA defender, and Murphy is a dynamic wing thats a knock down 3 point shooter. Both are players that would fit very well with Dame and the 14th pick is where Mike can earn his paycheck.
Zion for me is to much of a gamble but if Chauncey, Joe & Dame think he could turn over a new leaf here?

If we get Zion for the number 3 pick, how many games will he play next season? Over Under 30 games?

I didn’t say they didn’t matter, I said they’re not as valuable, so stop making shit up. A lot of things matter in winning a championship, but the fact is that 27/30 finals MVPs have not been point guards tells you something.

Curry also was not the best player on 4 of the last 9. 2 of those go to Durant. And the fourth went to Andre Igoudala although Curry was a better player. Curry is also one of the exceptions. Curry can also shoot from half court and arguably changed the game. Which is what I said about Scoot. He literally has to be arguably the greatest PG of all time for this “hype” to match reality.

You’re confusing best with Finals MVP. Curry was the best player on all 4 title teams.

Which brings me to my final point: People are drafting Scoot with the hope or whatever of building around him, which is a mistake IMO.

Bucks weren’t built around Jrue.
Nuggets aren’t built around Murray.
Warriors, as the exception that I already stated, yes and a couple of those teams were absolutely loaded (which is another thing I stated about Scoot.)
Lakers weren’t built around Schroeder.
Toronto wasn’t built around Fred Van Fleet.

Kyle Lowry was starting PG for the Raptors. And who cares what the team was “built” around? You usually need a great one to win a title- Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups, Jason Kidd, Steph Curry, Jrue Holliday,Rajon Rondo, Kyrie Irving and Kyle Lowry are all All Star PGs and won 14* of the last 21 titles and Nuggets win nothing without Murray. By talking about the last 30 years, you seem to be hung up on Phil Jackson’s 10 title teams but those were built on the Triangle which didn’t require a traditional PG. Even so, Paxson and Fisher were incredible in their role. You can’t roll out an average PG and win a title unless you have LeBron/Wade/Bosh. Celtics keep trying to do it with Smart and it ain’t working.

I think he'll miss around 20 games but maybe he doesn't because we get serious with him about his nutrition and conditioning. I think for sure the idea will be to make sure he is healthy leading up to and in the playoffs.

Bottom line is what do you think the starting 5 will be?

The possibilities right now are seriously so wide open I wouldn't even venture a guess at this point. 3 days from now we should have a better idea but it still might be incredibly unclear.

so...a choice between waiting for Miller to develop, or waiting for Zion to get hurt
