We need bench scoring.... badly.

yeah, but don't take a look at points, or points per minute...look at efficiency deltas

Last year we averaged 23.6 bench ppg on 13.7 bench minutes (1.72 ppm), both the lowest in the league. Our bench efficiency, however, was a -8.4...27th in the league in front of PHI, DET and MIN.

Last night we had 21 points in 66 bench minutes combined, or 1.59 points per minute. Much worse. In Game 1, with about 15 combined minutes of garbage time, we scored 21. We're not shooting well, especially from 3. But our efficiency is a +2.0.

SO, overall, the difference from last year is that when we didn't overpower a bench with our offense, we aren't completely hurting. We're still playing D. Our bench is 10.5 points per 100 possessions better than it was last year.

I hadn't had a chance to look at any hard stats, but that was my gut feeling Brian; they aren't scoring especially well, but it seems like they've been a little more effective defensively in the first two games ... caveat for small sample sizes and all of that. Thanks for looking that stuff up.

Thanks for that

I will never understand why our bench is crappy, most of our guards are okay, Kaman is quality, but Wright, Claver, Trob, Leonard, Crabbe ..... and we wonder why our bench can't score!

Disaster. Just when you think our bench couldn't be worse. I really think the team misses Mo Williams.

They do. I wonder if Neil was busy reading to many posts in forums rather doing his job. Just because one or two of us don't like him, makes him bad for the team. What was the net gain with Blake?

Mo Williams is not the answer. We need Kaman to score down low (he was a little off tonight), Blake to hit wide open shots off of double-teams (Did that tonight), and one of Barton, Crabbe, and McCollum to be that guaranteed 10PPG scorer off the bench.

Every time down court it seemed as if Blake was getting blown by. He has a hard time staying in front of his man at times.

Blake was fine. He shot 3-5 in 23 minutes. Lillard shot 4-18 in 38 minutes. So Lillard used his 15 extra minutes to shoot 1-13.

Each had 5 assists.

Blake is to defense, what Kingspeed is to heterosexuality

Again with the Mo v. Blake comparisons. I thought it was a matter of signing Kaman and a facilitator PG and hoping CJ could do some of what Mo did? In the end Mo signed for more $ elsewhere than we could give him.

Even considering Blake's less than average defense, all three of the above mentioned players are better defenders than Mo.

What this team needed more than Mo's sporadic offense and pathetic defense was a legit backup big man. We got that. I don't miss Mo. At all.

Further I would add it is the play of our starters that is killing us not the bench. No mo Mo is not even remotely the problem.

Both posts are rep worthy.
