I'm willing to accept the fact we are doing horribly and might go into the lottery. Chris Webber wants to be a Knick now. What I say to that is NO! Chris Webber had his chance a couple of years ago when he burned us. He could have signed with us as a free agent but he decided to take that ridiculously high contract by Sacramento in that offseason. That same offseason was what got us to our down fall?Houston?s 100 million dollar contract.
Anyway, the very fact that he said give away one of our expiring contracts for Chris Webber I have mixed emotions. My mixed feelings was laughing at the very thought, and sad because we all know Isiah. Everyone knows that Chris Webber is overpaid and he is suffering from the same surgery that Allan Houston had not too long ago. Now, we are willing to give away one of our huge expiring contracts to get temporarily better? We saw how this turned out. Phoenix did to us, now look where they are. Chris Webber will give us some scoring, some nice passing and the whole works but, how long will he be able to do that? I doubt for long. In the next year when Sacramento saves cap room, we just get worse and worse in the cap until we are completely unable to fix the problem for a couple of decades.
Isiah said something that I agreed with yesterday. He said something like we can not confuse ourselves with old talent or something like that. He mean Chris Webber is overpaid for what he can do on the floor, is injury prone and we can?t throw money at him like that. I really hope this is some silly NY rumor. With the deadline in a couple of weeks, I think Isiah Thomas is going to make a silly trade to get us over the hump instead of a decent trade that we will not be regretting getting us over the hump. I wonder what that will do to the development of Michael Sweetney. He will get maybe 5 minutes a game and always be behind Webber. It would just be wasted talent. Webber I guess can also play the 5 but, wouldn?t that be taking him out of his natural position. What will that do with Mohammed also. He had a great night yesterday and has had a great season so far. He looks to really be developing into a really good find by Isiah. Now taking away his minutes wont do him very good either.
I don?t want Webber or any overpaid guy coming here especially if they have had a past filled with injury. The Knicks may be able to do better temporarily however, what good is temporarily for the future? We need someone who can help us now and will be able to help us for years to come. Chris Webber is NOT the savior of the Knicks. Mistakes we make similar to these bite us in the foot. Let?s be smart about making decisions like these.
