According to Jason Quick on 1080. Blazers admit they brought him back too early. Same foot, same bone.

Well, we can put those 'who's minutes are going to get cut back when Marty comes back.'

The Blazers have a 33 year pattern of rushing foot injuries back too soon.

You'd think they could afford a decent Doc considering what's at stake.

The fact they rushed him back implies the trade deadline and Martell are connected somehow, or the SF position and the deadline anyway.

Sad, and disappointing to me.

I say let this cake bake.

Blazers brought him back too early? Seems odd considering their overly cautious approach with Oden...

When they said Jason Quick had some Breaking News, I was hoping that KP found a sweet deal for Raef.

Fuck fuck fuckin fuck.

Holy crap.. another month? Wow.. I hope this doesn't become a career-threatening thing since we just re-signed him to an extension.

I was gonna say Holy Crap too. This is horrible. This could've been his year. I feel horrible for him. Luckily for us, Batum is up to the challenge.

I don't understand... I thought he was only supposed to be out 4-6 weeks the first time. How could they have messed up this badly?

I think this is just an issue with stress fractures - you basically just have to take your time and let it heal - so it is very hard to estimate exactly when it will be fine.

They had no way of knowing if he will be pain free when he comes back or not until he actually came back. I imagine he was pain free before they reactivated him - so there is really very little they can do.

I know Jay Jensen has a good reputation around the league, but it sure seems like we have had a disproportionate number of these types of things going back 5 or so years. roy's knee and feet. oden. LMA with a number of things. joel. zach. and i'm sure there are others i'm not thinking of off the top of my head. maybe it's just these players, but i'm starting to wonder if we don't have substandard conditioning drills or treatment or... something...

Man, that is a real downer. I was really looking forward to seeing how Webster would fit into the mix.

This is why we do not consolidate because there MAY be a problem with minutes. That really sucks for Martel.

MARTELL WEBSTER SIDELINED WITH FOOT INJURY

PORTLAND, Ore. – Trail Blazers guard/forward Martell Webster will be sidelined for approximately four weeks after experiencing acute pain in his left foot Sunday at Toronto.

Webster experienced pain Dec. 7 against the Raptors, his first game back after undergoing surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot on Oct. 9. An X-ray taken Monday revealed that the fracture has regressed from an X-ray taken late last month.

“The good news is that Martell is not experiencing pain at the fracture site,” said Kevin Pritchard, Trail Blazers General Manager. “He is, however, experiencing pain in his little toe joint (head of the fifth metatarsal bone). While it’s an unfortunate setback for Martell, we feel putting additional stress on the foot at this time is not conducive for complete healing.”

Webster will be placed in a walking boot for two weeks at which time he’ll be reevaluated and an updated treatment plan will be implemented.

A fourth-year Trail Blazer, Webster initially incurred the injury in an Oct. 7 preseason game vs. Sacramento.

Webster, 22, has career averages of 8.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.8 assists while averaging 37.2% (279-for-750) from 3-point range in 219 games (115 starts) with the Trail Blazers.

Roy's knee started in college (possibly even high school, not sure about that).

Man... I was really looking forward to Rudy and Martell again. Oh well... guess we have to wait a little longer.

Terrible, horrible news. This totally blows. I bet this is so frustrating for Webster. He worked so hard in the offseason. Hope he comes back fully healthy the next time and not rush it.

Tough break for Martell. I hope he gets well soon.

Too bad for Webster, but not a big deal for the team. They hardly need his erratic shooting. I'd rather see somebody else get a shot at his minutes.
