I don't want Gomes taking Pendergraph or Dante's minutes anyway!

Man, they're really hanging KP out there. Why put him out there at all? He's gone.

So Babbitt is Pritchard's outgoing pick, like Outlaw was Whitsitt's outgoing pick.

Well, I guess there will be more Portland picks, but this is probably the guy who will be the centerpiece of this draft.

I Babbit's and Gomes' dreams, they can't give us anywhere near the production that Webster would have given us in 2010-11.

I disagree. I like Webster, but until/unless he starts shooting as well as he SHOULD shoot, he's just not that good of a player.

Babbitt will almost certainly be a superior shooter as a rookie to Webster last year. He won't defend like Martell did, but he will give us the production Webster did.

Gomes might actually be a better player than Webster... he's older, though, and Martell still has potential to be significantly better than he is now.

I like Gomes better for us as well and got equal return for the potential Martell has. If Martell was going to thrive in Nate's system, it would have happened by now. He played better last year, but like Gomes coming off the bench with Nic starting.

Ed. You're dreaming (more like psycho-babble). Babbit's not going to even get on the floor. He'll attempt less than 100 three's next season. Martell would have shot 200 of them next year.

Defensively, it will take Babbit 5 years at the minimum, if he ever gets there at all, to get to where Martell is right now.

If Martell was going to thrive in Nate's system...

And, that's why Kevin got fired. Nate's system sucks and won't be winning any Championships (unless he's got so much frickin' talent that they win in spite of him, but that's unlikely so no LeBron or Kobe or Wade are coming here.)

Re: Woj Spills Deal..........

Roy entered the NBA draft straight out of high school but decided to withdraw. He wasn't a late bloomer.

So did the Hobbit, but like David Robinson he could not join the NBA immediately as he was fighting Mordor.

Who's the backup small forward on this team in your opinion?

And why on earth would we want Martell to shoot 200 three pointers? If he shot that many as a Blazer, it would not be a successful outcome for the team, as we've seen the last three years he's been healthy.

That might be true.

How is Luke Babbit different from Victor "seen in Portland today" Claver?

While you may not want him to, I don't want anyone not named Batum doing it, either, but Martell is still a better 3-point shooter than anyone on the team, except Batum. But, that won't stop Roy from shooting 250 of them and Bayless shooting 250 of them.

Brandon Roy is the backup small forward. So, you're asking who is the 3rd small forward, who will occasionally get in the game for 8 minutes in a game? That will be Dante Cunningham. Babbit won't get on the floor because he won't learn his first season where he's supposed to be. And, when it comes to the time it really matters, the post-season, Babbit will see even less time, where Martell was easily our best defender during the playoffs this season.

With Camby, Oden, and Pryzbilla, it's possible that those three, if active at the same time, might move Aldridge into some small forward playing time.

How long does it take to learn, "You're the small forward in a McMillan scheme, so go stand in the corner and wait for someone to see you there"?

Hmm... I think Cunningham is a possibility at the 3 spot, for sure, but I also think that Babbitt is the best shooter on the team and he will force his way onto the floor this season.

We wants it, we needs it. Must have the precious. They stole it from us. Sneaky little hobbitses. Wicked, tricksy, false!

That's a pretty good point. We don't really ask a lot out of our threes in the offense, other than to hit threes. Which Babbitt seems more than capable of.

The guy his free throws at a 92% clip. When you are that automatic at the charity stripe, you have to be a pretty damned good shooter. He may not be much of a defender, but that's why we've got Oden, Aldridge, Przybilla (for now) and Camby. I'm definitely excited to see him in the three point specialist role Webster was supposed to play (but was never that great at).

I'm calling Gomes to Miami so they can get Wade, LeBron and Bosh in Miami. then what?

Meh. Fair value (or better) for Webster. Just a boring, unimportant deal. Tinkering around the margins when the team (and KP) needed something a lot bigger.

I'm thinking the idea he is moved for capspace for another team in a larger trade is VERY likely - nice chip but it expires on June 30th.

I'll just say that I like Babbit's shot. I've seen a lot better, though. It has some holes in it, but for his age, it's not bad. For his height and size, it's beyond his years. But, I don't think he'll get more than 1400 minutes total his first two seasons as a Blazer. That's not very many minutes.

You lost me when you said you think this team will play Aldridge at small forward. Teams often say they will play shooting power forwards at small forward, but it almost never happens.
