First time ever on a boat to sea.

Anyway, the fruit of my labor. These tuna steaks tasted absolutely wonderful....grilled with a bit of olive oil, salt, & pepper! :)

I read that it's very easy to overcook the fish. Lightly searing (about 2-3 minutes per side) did the trick. I tried a bit of Kona Coast teriyaki on the side for dipping a few of the pieces.

I've never had grilled tuna before. Incredibly tasty!

The boat (12 of us) only caught 4 fish. Prior to setting out, the skipper said that we would all be sharing in the catch. Since we only caught 4 fish, it was slim pickin's. Oh, well, at least we all took fish home. One guy was pretty upset about that, though. He said, whoever catches fish should take home all they catch. The thing is, though, nobody had their "own" fishing pole. Whenever we heard "fish on", it was a mad scramble to the pole. First one there, got to reel it in.

Sharing the catch with the entire party is common courtesy.

Not having your own pole seems stupid and I'd probably look for another captain next time, but maybe that's just me.

Did he 'geiger' them for you, since nearly all tuna in the Pacific is now measurably radioactive?

No, but suddenly I don't feel very good. :smiley-puke:

When I grew up, a can of tuna with a bottle of mayonnaise were perfectly healthy.

Now, the cancer gets you before the heart attack.

more like 30 seconds, if that

i like it just enough to cook the very outside, and leave it cold in the middle

We need to organize an S2 fishing trip, like in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

30 seconds is too long.

Put it on, flip it over, done.

"overcooked" is subjective to a point, but you can really ruin them by drying them out as well

im sure they were still pretty durn tasty!

If you look at that right one, you can see how red they were under that bit of browning.
