Wes doesn't expect to be back with Portland, is comfortable in LA

A Monroe/Meyers front court would work well ......on offense. Not so much the rest of the game.
That's why we gotta get Thibedeau!
I'm of the opinion that ALL players can be good defenders, even if they've never played good defense before. All it takes is a good scheme, buy-in from all the players, and a coach to hold the players accountable. Meyers has already shown good progress in his man/man defensive capabilities. No reason Monroe can't do the same. And with a good scheme/coach there's no reason they can't both contribute to a good team-defense.

The way Wes defends is why i'm not that worried about his Achillies. He doesn't use his Athleticism to defend he uses his strength. Wes gets in your mug and is great at fighting through a screen, he isn't making come from behind blocks or chasing his man down. Wes defense is the epitome of defense by will and hustle.
He puts a ton of pressure on his feet/ankles Dude, he moves so quick side to side. Have you ever watched his footwork? His ankles are constantly rolling too. If he comes back he is gonna have to do it as a 3, he won't be able to guard quick 2s anymore IMHO.

I know you want to fire Stotts and replace him with any number of coaches but as an organization that doesn't attract the highest FA or top of the line HC candidates, don't you think Portlands reputation as an employer would be effected greatly by firing a coach who has improved the team every year, made the playoffs two years in a row and won 50 games twice in a row?

Yea he has good footwork and is quick to move from side to side but to assume he wont be able to do that anymore is basically saying this injury would give Wes stone feet, which i'm no expert but it doesn't sound like this injury makes it so your not mobile anymore but can take away your explosiveness. Wes doesn't have a quick first step, its just great footwork and knowing how to place his body, those things will still be there.

I don't. I think players are more concerned about (a) how much they're gonna get paid, (b) how much they're gonna play, (c) how much they're gonna win, and (d) what the city/weather/taxes/etc are like. I doubt any player backed out of a deal because he took a hard look at how often a team fires its coach (which nearly all teams do every 2-5 years).
I also think that the coach figures into items (b) and (c), and that players would rather play for a better coach (Thibs) than a worse coach (Stotts).

How did anyone even watch video?

There's a little triangle on the picture that you push with your mouse arrow to get the moving pictures going.

Let us know if you need any other help.

You may need to explain to him how a small rodent would help him use his electronic picture box.

All he said is that his gut is that he wants the best place for him and god has a plan. I would say he was noncommittal in what I watched, but it didn't sound like he expected to be with a different team.

I don't understand why everyone wants Monroe but hates Love

hrm i didnt even hear him say no

she said - "do you see yourself staying in portland? is that your gut?
wes said - " ya know... my gut is, its the the best place for me"
"our team is full of free agents so, i want the best place for me"

where is the definitive no?

considering how much he's shared with our community and how much he loves the team, a public and outright no would be rather odd.

In my defense the sound quality on that video is awful, and I really wanted to post it here for a big huge pants shitting thread like this :beatinto:

Wes doesn't seem loyal why is everybody all "oh he didnt mean it" bs?

We gave this guy nearly 40 million after one year if that's not loyalty idk what it is..

So fuck this guy if he doesn't want to be here

Wes is coming off confident and convincing that he'll come back strong from the injury, if a team out there does offer him stupid money we can get more for him in a sign and trade.

Not a bad thing.

Gave? Considering what he brought to the team and how he played that contract was a bargain. We didn't give him anything, he earned every penny.

Ha! Good ear. I re-listened to it with headphones and it's painfully clear he says "you know", and that Portland is the best place for him.

Plus, he refers to Portland as "our" team, not "they have"

And that guy on the far right is a big freaking idiot.

If you listen to it backwards he is clearly saying that he hates Portland, Lillard and the hipster fans here.

panic averted :)

also no way in hell he'd go to Lakers, not only are they in a much worse position than us - but my god, surely just the instilled hate would be enough to ensure this never happens.
unless blake has said its great there and blah blah.

Holy shit, I just listened to it backwards and he said he hates Portland, Lillard and the fans...AND that Damian drinks like a fish and LaMarcus has hated every second he played in Portland.

Did you hear the part where he said he faked his injury?

Im glad I wasn't the only one who heard that. I didn't want to believe it, but him saying that and admitting that he threw the season for 50 grand...

sad times indeed.
