Wes doesn't expect to be back with Portland, is comfortable in LA

Wait, when did we switch from talking about Wes to discussing GOP presidential candidates?

And you're the one wanting Damian Lillard to be strictly a passer.....

Well, I fail to see what a mind numbing video has to do with any discussion about Lillard. But since you brought him up, I never said anything close to what you said.
Not really much to discuss since you seem to infer from unknown sources.

I would take a Monta Ellis level for CJ in a heart beat, although I think their games are different.
CJ has better range, but not a has quick as Monta. (few players are.)
I also think CJ tries harder on defense and is probably better in the locker room. (Total guess on that)

But size/position wise I think it is a great comparison. CJ will never average 25 ppg like Monta did for GS those two years, but certainly he can average 19-20 like Monta did all the other years.

I'd say stylistically CJ is like a short Kevin Martin.

Offensively maybe. But the knock on CJ is his size and how that effects his ability to cover SGs. But I would venture to say that even though Martin is listed at 6'7", CJ is a better defender.

The whole thing about the LA thing and really all our free agents, The Lakers have to want him to and then pay him an amount that is satisfactory to him.

I don't believe LA is an org who will commit a ton of money to him. And there is no saying they want someone who is rehabbing from an achilles heal injury. Understand that Jim Buss is still in charge but LA is not going to get back to their championship ways by overpaying for players like Wes Matthews. I think in the end it will come down to money and Portland is where the money is at. And I believe the GM being Neil is hanging his hat on these thoughts and ideas because he knows he has an owner who will right the check.

I heard that Matthews loves Los Angles so much that he is looking into changing his name to Les Atthews so his initials will be LA.

I listened in slow motion, really loud, and after "No," he clearly says, "Yes, we have no bananas. We have no bananas today."

he WAS maybe a top 5 SG, with that Achilles rupture that is now very, very much in doubt. I like Wes but if some dumb GM wants to pay him big and for several years it is an easy adios muchacho

Except for the fact that most athletes who suffer ruptured achilles do return to 100%

I think Wes will revive his career but not be the same player. Grant Hill was not 37 when he was injured in Detroit...he was in his prime. Orlando then gambled and paid him to basically continue to have injury troubles and not stick on the court. Tracy McGrady was not 37 and couldn't really come back as well as Steve Francis...it's a long list and though they didn't have the same injuries, they were in their prime when they sustained career altering setbacks. We thought Brandon Roy and Greg Oden would come back. Paying Wes a lot of money is a gamble and one that might not pay off down the road. This is a tough decision to make. I love Wes but my gut says the Knicks will overpay him just like they do everyone. His loyalty to Portland will mean taking a shorter deal to see if he can produce next season.

There have been some great SGs that were 6'4". Also, CJ has very long arms, so he plays larger than his height

at the NBA combine CJ measured in at 6'2.25 & 190 lbs, which is about the same as Lillard measured. His wingspan and standing reach were also about the same as Dame's. I wish he had SG size or extra long arms compared to other NBA players, but the fact is that he's PG sized. He and DL can play offense together for stretches, but think depending on them as the main backcourt tandem presents obvious matchup issues on D.

I'd love to see them add another wing who can handle the ball and create for others.

CJ will be a good combo guard/3rd guard in the rotation.
