Wesley suffers fracture

Scoot isn't far from returning now and Love will plug the gap until then. Blake will be back probably after the all star break I'm guessing.
I don’t think Scoot will even be evaluated until December right? Isn’t that what the official team statement said?

Really a bummer as this next few weeks is the time we need him - hopefully once Scoot comes back we have that position covered.

I suppose we run with Love as backup PG? I think with Jrue, Deni, Sharpe, Yang we still have enough guys to initate offense but we will need help bringing the ball up and help with pressure if Love can just do that.

I'm used to Blazers having a gigantic list of injured centers but never seen this really with PG's;

PG Dame - OUT for months
PG Scoot - OUT for weeks
PG Wesley - OUT for months
PG/SG Jrue healthy
SG Thybulle - OUT for months
Ironic that the player with the biggest injury history is the only one labeled ‘healthy”

If you want to see Yang initiate any kind of offense, you’ll have to head over to the Chiles Center FAMS!

I don’t believe that 4-8 weeks was his return date, I believe it said he would be re-evaluated in 4-8 weeks.

Deni will be our backup point guard
which would mean that Portland desperately needs a backup PG because Deni is 3 zip codes away from being a PG

so far, this season, he's averaging 4.2 assists, but 3.8 turnovers. That's an assist/turnover rate of 1.1; a rate that would get any PG fired

in fact, there's this record for Deni:

rookie season: usage rate 12%....assist/turnover 1.91 (assist rate 6.3%)
2nd season: usage rate 16.3%....assist/turnover 1.92 (assist rate 11.8%)
3rd season: usage rate 16.7%....assist/turnover 1.71 (assist rate 13.9%)
4th season: usage rate 20.2%....assist/turnover 1.79 (assist rate 17.8%)
5th season: usage rate 23.2%....assist/turnover 1.43 (assist rate 19.9%)
this season: usage rate 26.6%....assist/turnover 1.1 (assist rate 20.1%)

note: all the usual escape clauses about different teams, situations, and sample sizes
. Also, it's more difficult to find breakdowns of ball-handling vs passing turnovers; maybe I just haven't looked lately

you would expect turnovers to increase as a player handles the ball more. But for a PG, as the experience & usage increases, along with the assist rate, you'd expect the assist/turnover rate to at least keep pace and not get worse. Deni's best season in terms of usage, assist rate, and assist/turnover rate was his last season in Washington. But that season, he was actually 4th among starters in assists/game and assist rate. He played with a PG and couple of same-level secondary facilitators. His burden was a lot less than it has been in Portland.

what I have seen is that Deni is a willing passer. But his passing skills and court vision need a lot of work. As I mentioned, some of his turnovers are part of his turbo mode and those are not necessarily passing mistakes. Those breakneck dribble-drives generate some turnovers. If Deni is going to be the secondary facilitator/PG, he's going to need to scale back his turbo mode, but that might make him less impactful

You most certainly could be right, but everything I have read always says this:

"Scoot Henderson is expected to return to basketball activities in four to eight weeks from his September 26th injury date. This timeline would place his return in November, though he is not expected to start the season due to the hamstring tear."

Blazers are done if Jrue goes down. He can't be playing a lot of minutes. We need Scoot soon

And if you are relying on a player coming back from what Scoot is about to come back from strong, that’s scary.

I have no clue or insider info, but I just don't see that happening. Everything I see is Scoot has a Dame-like work ethic.

Hard to say. Hamstrings are tricky. Not sure if his strong work ethic will help. Not when rest is the best thing for it.
But we don't know how he is doing. For all we know, he will be back after 6 weeks, which is Saturday.

Yeah it's super important he is slow with his return or he could reinjure it and lose most the season.

Some of that risk can't be avoided, whenever he returns there will be a risk of reinjury. Just have to basically not do anything stupid and overwork it.

Agreed that works ethic has basically nothing to do with it.
