See I look at rules as more of a "blue print" and fall back for the mods to use when certain assholes show themselves. For the most part, I've seen warnings first and usually the post removes. As for tampons... Hey let your little one walk right next to the baby isle and see that word postered all on the shelves. If you can see it in Safeway, Albertsons or Ralphs, then WTF?!?!?! Is it really that offensive?

It's not the word that's offensive. It's how it's used. If a little kid refers to kitten as a pussy, it's not offensive. If I can you a pussy, it's a personal attack.

The moderators know the rules and should be held to a higher standard than the average poster (or at least the SAME standard). It is their responsibility to enforce the rules, not violate them.

He is being held to the same standard as other posters. His posts were deleted, and we are absolutely trying to deal with this whole thing as professionally as we can. We don't willy nilly ban posters for having a blonde moment, and we are generous about giving people 2nd chances.

Sounds good if that floats your boat, and if that's the rules then I can't argue that, but I love joking around. And sometimes, comic relief helps stop the bleeding, no tampon pun intended...

So, how about banning the mod - or at least suspending his mod privileges? Mods should not make a habit of violating the rules they are supposed to enforce.

For whatever reason, the guy came in here and crapped all over the forum...and you are upset that somebody insulted him for doing it?

You might be over-reacting just a bit.

Understood. My reply was addressing magnifier61's question about why I found the word tampon offensive.

Joking around and using profanity is fine. That wasn't what happened here. The mod attacked a poster he had just banned. They have a history of disagreement that escalated and lead to the poster getting banned. It should have ended there, but it didn't.

I didn't see what he did, and I don't care. Mods are supposed to enforce the rules, not violate them. I have no problem with the ban. Based on what happened it was justified. It should have ended there. The gloating and personal attacks by the mod that followed were unnecessary and a violation of the forum rules - plain and simple. Two wrongs don't make a right - especially when one of the parties misbehaving is a mod and should know better.

I find the use of "having a blonde moment" to be a personal attack as I naturally have some blond around my temples. Pretty much demanding Denny gets banned.

Brotha-man, I respect that seriously. I've seen O-live blasted as personal attack central (I have to give myself props, I learned how to be pretty good at it there). I dabbled a little in BBB and was uninterested because, well it was dead boring... No offense to those that helped build it. I like this place. I can say whatever and have a little flame out with someone and it's all good. I've argued with mods. Not personally attacking them. Hell, I hate "huevonkiller" because he's a Laker fan! ;)

I am new, only here since October, so don't mind me.

Then I guess I am partially to blame, as I was puzzled by what seemed uncharacteristic behavior from DennisRodman, and asked what happened. Maybe it was none of my business to ask - but I didn't find HK's response offensive in the context of what happened. :dunno:

I completely agree with this, surely this has been blown out of proportion.

Did you see the four posts by the mod before they were deleted by Denny Crane? The fact that they are now gone is a good thing. They were inappropriate and violated the forum rules. That they are gone though may be part of the confusion.

BTW, I'm not "mad" about any of this. Just trying to state my position and answer questions about MY posts.

The mods and other staff can see the posts. They're "soft" deleted so regular members can't see them.

I think I've beaten this to death. I now return you to your regularly scheduled Nate McMillan bashing. Anybody think Nate has lost the team and should be fired? Anyone??? Come on, don't be shy...

Uh oh, the thread has turned, quick, revive it!

Man, get this shit off my Blazer forum!

For whatever reason, the guy came in here and crapped all over the forum...

Sports2 is imbalanced. The Portland people so outnumber other boards that they can, without trying, hijack other boards, make the natives feel frustrated, who then hijack the Portland board in revenge. I, too, feel frustrated when I argue with the ever-serious Boob.
