From today's Frye Article:

....But the question remains: With so many offensive weapons and only so many shots to go around on the second unit, will Frye get many opportunities to flash that newfound three-pointer? That's irrelevant, Frye said. Although it's a contract season, he refuses to dwell on individual statistics. Like seemingly everyone on this team, Frye said he believes his value will be measured in how many games the Blazers win.

"It really comes down to . . . one of two things," Frye said. "I can either come out here (and) be a jerk and be selfish and think about myself and ruin everything that everyone's worked on. Or I can trust in this program and everyone here and myself and just be a great team player. And I'm not trying to be cliche, but you figure the farther we get the better everyone looks. So the better we are, even if I have to sacrifice a few minutes, teams are going to see that. I'm able to put my pride to the side and fit in and do what's best for this team and not just for me."

Frye is such a stud. He is just an all around great guy. I hope he can find a role on this team and retire a Trail Blazer.
 
Frye is smart enough to say to KP through his blog, "I'm willing to be a role player in a town I like. Please re-sign me".

Fry remindsme of aMicheal Thompson with his interviews. The media loved Micheal and they love Fry's comments too. Good kid and a fair-to-middli'-player.

Love it. Frye is a smart guy. The more smart guys that can play on the team, the better.
 
Call me crazy but I see him playing some extended minutes at the 3 this season.
 
Nice to hear. Sounds to me like he's looking to do what Outlaw did, be a team guy, play fewer minutes, let his value stagnate, and then let himself get re-signed at a bargain price. That's absolutely great for the team, although if I were his accountant I'd tell him he's nuts and he should demand either a trade or playing time.

If he plays only 15 mpg this season, it could wind up costing him $10 mil over his career. Team success matters, but if guys like Zach Randolph and Steve Francis have taught us anything, it's that the money generally follows the stats.

At this point in his career, Frye is simply playing for the ring. ;)
 
I don't think Frye would even mind being the 12th guy on this team. The guy loves the city, met his girl here, etc., I think he'd be willing to stay at all costs, which is great because the guy can play.

Yeah, and to most players that's a luxury you decide to have when you are 29 or 30, after you've made a big contract. Most players really want to make sure they cash in while they are young to protect themselves in the event of a career-ending injury.

Like I said, I'm quite happy Frye has the attitude he does. I doubt I would.

Frye is one of those guys where no matter who it is for or what it is for I would be upset to see him be traded. He just seems like a great guy, even if he had his worst season ever this year I would still be sad to see him be traded at any time.

I'm happy he seems to have this great attitude by what he's saying... that he's smart enough to be able to say the right things and avoid this obvious PR trap. Smart is good. But I have my doubts that any player likes to sit especially in a contract year and there have been plenty of smart players who groused about PT after they said they were team oriented. It's also hard for many guys to get into their groove if they're commanding 6 minutes or less a half.

We all see the minutes crunch looming and I'm sure how guys handle/adjust to their roles (or lack there of) will be an ongoing storyline of the season. Here's to hoping that somehow this isn't a problem.

Yeah, he is kind of like Luke Schenscher - but with game.

Maybe this is the time to start a petition for Frye to dye his hair red.
 
he's a smart and articulate guy, and it shows. hopefully he's keen to be a key role player for us for a long time to come!

I didn't think you were being facetious, because I think Frye really does want to play for a ring in Portland. If he really wants big minutes for a big contract, he'll likely need a starting role. Any team he gets traded to that has him as a starter is likely a lot farther away from contending for a title than Portland is.
 
Frye is awesome. If we keep him, he might even play backup Center/PF once Pryzbilla is gone.
 
Hope he's with us for a long time!

Frye would be a great commentator on radio or TV. He is very articulate and knows what he's talking about.
