Life is suffering to an extent, but its pretty great too, smoking a joint and laughing a real laugh with your friends are proof of god if anything is. Smiles make life worth dying for.

A real laugh with my friends is proof of my friends.
 
Nothing.

But his followers have done a lot to make my life a lot worse.
By both personal bigotry/assault including physical assault in Jesus' name and by assaults on women's rights (although Jesus never mentioned birth control), gay rights, even the environment, in Jesus' name.

I completely forgot I posted this. But...

People are responsible for their own suffering. Not god. With as 'imperfect' and let that be illuminated, as we are. We trip and fall because of this. We don't have the answers. WE THINK WE DO. But we don't. And all the while we do, we cause problems for ourselves when maybe we should be leaning on the one entity that does have the answers. We know who that is.

If you need proof to what I'm saying. Look at our every weakening country and society. We don't have the answers.

How many "years ago" are you referring to? This nation probably was at its peak as to relying on God in the late 1700's. Do you honestly believe that 1790 USA was stronger than 2014 USA? :lol:

I'll start.

My father was diagnosed with lung cancer three years ago. It was diagnosed by five different doctors at the Veterans Hospital in Portland. It was growing at an alarming rate. Doctors didn't want to autopsy or operate for fear of a collapsed lung. Word got out at their church and they started a prayer chain that not only reached their neighborhood. But it got out nationwide. Prayer chains were ocurring not only within the church but in many areas around the country. Three months later when they went to take pictures of the lung, the same five doctors who diagnosed the lung with cancer, came away scratching their head because the cancer was gone. It wasn't there. Something miraculous happened. Two weeks before that, my dad got up from his chair, stood up and felt this sharp pain in the back region where the lung was located. He swears today it was god working his power to cure his cancer. Who can deny it? Two weeks later he went to go the same five doctors and they couldn't find anything. It could only be one thing. Jesus being Jesus. His faith in Jesus in the end took care of him. It's an awesome story to this day. There are many more stories. But this one here is the most significant one.

I don't want to start another thread, so I will use this one if you guys don't mind.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of the doctors, nurses, therapists and technicians for doing what they do. They help people reclaim their lives.

My father had a massive stroke 2.5 months ago and he's been rehabbing in hospitals since the incident. It's been a long, hard road for him, but he's due to come back home in a couple of days!

Again, a huge thanks goes out to all of the medical professionals.

I agree. It's pretty petty that someone needs to blame everyone else for challenges in their life. I have gay friends and family, and not one blames Christianity for anything.

I'm glad that your father is doing better. Yes the medical professionals save lives, but there are many that push meds on incentives by the pharma companies. Not all, but there are poison apples in all walks of life.

Be always cautious on the meds they prescribe.

I didn't decide on Christ as my God because it's the most popular. He's just the most popular God.

You just asked "the most popular one?" And I agreed that he's most popular.

And the "Christian" is a bit skewed since Catholics are considered Christians, but they don't consider themselves the same as Protestants
