Trump hurt himself. His opponents hate him because his self arrogance and his narcistic personality is openly expressed world wide on Twitter. He actually creates enemies in this communication format. His beguiling of Hillary and Barrack did not win over the nation but revealed an immature political strategy. Class behavior is what Americans and world leaders expect from the President of this country. George HW Bush is the true example of a class President.
 
To answer the OP, if no or insufficient evidence emerges to impeach or convict Trump, so be it. It's certainly still possible.

Although the SDNY plainly stating that he directed criminal acts seems like a bit of a clue on how this is all going to turn out.

The purpose is to expose the massive fraud and failure inherent in our political system so people might actually do something about it.

Every president has his faults.
For one side to claim x president is most embarrassing, is complete asinine.

Statements like these are a problem.

See.....here's the difference. This Trump administration, and more specifically Trump himself, cannot, IMO, be compared to anything that we've ever seen. This is a unique situation and should be judged/reacted to in kind. I voted for W both terms. I didn't like a lot of things he did. I felt he was embarrassing yet I still voted for him after his first term. The level of embarrassment and shame Trump has inflicted upon our country is nothing close to anything we've ever endured or seen. Sure, there are always "sides," but it sure feels like, this time, there is only one side that makes any sense whatsoever.

I'm registered independent. Used to be registered republican. I'm no lib. I really dislike Hillary. It's just.....a uniquely terrible situation (Trump) requires more vitriol and action. It will all come to light. He's a con artist at best, a traitorous Russian asset at worst. Not one shred of him gives a shit what happens to America or American's. Not. One. Shred.

That matters to me. It should matter to all of us.
