See.....here's the difference. This Trump administration, and more specifically Trump himself, cannot, IMO, be compared to anything that we've ever seen. This is a unique situation and should be judged/reacted to in kind. I voted for W both terms. I didn't like a lot of things he did. I felt he was embarrassing yet I still voted for him after his first term. The level of embarrassment and shame Trump has inflicted upon our country is nothing close to anything we've ever endured or seen. Sure, there are always "sides," but it sure feels like, this time, there is only one side that makes any sense whatsoever.

I'm registered independent. Used to be registered republican. I'm no lib. I really dislike Hillary. It's just.....a uniquely terrible situation (Trump) requires more vitriol and action. It will all come to light. He's a con artist at best, a traitorous Russian asset at worst. Not one shred of him gives a shit what happens to America or American's. Not. One. Shred.
That matters to me. It should matter to all of us.

That's fine, but sir you're missing the point a little bit.

If you say. 'Trump is the most embarrassing president of all time.'
Someone will inevitably respond with. 'No Obama was'.

People who use this rhetoric are part of the problem.

I actually agree Trump is pretty embarrassing. Possibly of all time.(Even tho I wasn't alive for all the presidents..)
However if there is any hope for things to 'get better' in this country.
Then rhetoric like this needs to stop. As it just further divides the country.

Those dudes said that because he was black. Seriously.

I disagree.
Some people yes believe it's because he's black.

However there are some like my mother who are just bigots.
Can use the Marc Cuban example as proof.

Hell several years ago I was walking on the sidewalk with my mother in the dark.
She said, 'H.C. I think there is a drug deal going down over there.'
On the way back we saw the cars pulling out of Washington County fair grounds... Turned out to be two police cars.
I said, 'Donut deal'.

It's been a running joke ever since and has made her more comfortable in similar situations and people who aren't like her.
However my mother is one of the people who believes Obama due to his 'apology tour' was the most embarrassing president.
I call her out when she says shit like that, not because I believe shes racist. But because I believe shes a bigot.

I will gladly delete my posts to this clown if he deletes his as well or you can clean up his bullshit, but if he continues to come at me then I will gladly take a strike against me.

I will clean up both and if the two of you keep it up there will be strikes.

You have a point there. I've often considered taming the rhetoric here and on Twitter but now is not the time. I respect your stance though and I'd love nothing more than more unity. We just will NOT find it under this administration under any circumstance and the orange fool needs to go. Only then will we heal. I mean, he is solely responsible for the division. For this LEVEL of division. His tweets, his words, his bullshit. He is making HIS people MORE tribal. I don't see any possible way that someone like me, who resists everything about him, can make any difference right now trying to be unifying. It simply will not work.

I've often thought what it would be like if Pence took over. On one hand, he could be more dangerous because as a politician he knows how to get stuff done. But I also believe he'd honor the position of President which would at least get me to listen (even if I don't agree).

Trump? I don't even listen. He's so far gone, so far deranged, and so far into his own self interests, he's not allowed my respect or understanding.

Never claimed to be innocent and I said I would personally clean up my posts. Haven't seen him reply with a similar offer. Why is that?

Because I'm ignoring you like what was asked.
You know instead of calling someone a clown that is an option.

I don't even know who or what you're talking about. That is the power of the ignore feature.
I sleep well and have no impinging ulcers. God Bless the ignore feature.

I can't disagree with you.

I disagree. He isn't good for this country but you can't blame division on one person. The people have to be creating the division and ever since he became president, one side started in and then the other side jumps in and gets defensive and it goes from there. People could be just fine if they choose to be, maybe focus their energy on something else other then getting riled up over the guy in office. You can't blame one person regardless of how dumb they are acting or have acted. Others need to take responsibility too.

I use to love their music way way back in the day. Ever heard "Tell Laura I Love Her"?

Yes, but it's been a long time.

I've been listening to groups like Christopher Cross and Chicago lately.

It's posts like these from both sides which further divide the country.
I know many only-Republicans who believe Obama embarrassed the country more than any president due to his 'apology tour'.
Now we have only-Democrats on here claiming Trump has embarrassed the USA more than any other president.

I call nonsense like this out irl, I'll call it out here as well as nonsense.

Yes, he started it but you engaged back. You are not innocent

If I started it, why were two another posters able to refrain from thinking I was 'master baiting' and have a conversation with me.
I did zero baiting, and zero personal attacks with my first post.

I most certainly am blaming him for this level of division. Absolutely, 100%. Agree to disagree.

You tagged him and insulted him in another post not long after. It has since been edited.

After he told me to shut up.
Therefore I didn't start it so don't say I started it.
I'm not pretending I'm innocent. But I did not start it.
Edit your post.

I looked back. I believe it was before. Either way you are both acting like children.

While I don't believe Obama divided the country. He most certainly did force people out of their comfort zones.
Which itself can be took as division as people fear change.

My issue with Trump is he's doing nothing to fix the issues he's created with his twitter account. While other presidents imo have tried to at least listen. Trump does none of this.
He's a classic case of 'don't hit send'.
But twitter is the easiest way to rally the sheep of your party to vote for you. As it seems like everyone but myself has a twitter account.

You know last time Joe had to apologize publicly to me for making a mistake like this.

If you're gonna call out nonsense then you should call out yourself for this post...

For knowing people irl who think that way?

You know last time Joe had to apologize publicly to me for making a mistake like this.
But youre calling out other people for being divisive

C'mon man.

Do you not believe one side attacking the other further pushes positive conversations to the back burner?
So all it takes for you to abandon your hatred of divisiveness is one insult?

He told you to be quiet (shut up) 14 posts after you tagged him and attacked him. He actually was keeping his emotions mostly in check before then.

But youre calling out other people for being divisive

C'mon man.

Yes, divisive language needs to be done away with regardless of where it comes from.
As it does nothing but further the divide.

So all it takes for you to abandon your hatred of divisiveness is one insult?

I didn't abandon it.
But if someone insults me while failing to use the forum rules of attacking the post not the poster.
I'm going to find a more intelligent way to respond to the insult while attempting to toe the line.

i agree with the "it takes two sides for escalation". i also agree that the president didn't invent these divisions. i would however like suggest that many of the older posters on here were alive and remember the lee atwater interview where he discusses the political policy/tactic of the republican party in the middle 80's using this selfsame tactic to incite racism to get out the vote and to direct that vote to republican candidates. i believe trump proscribes to the tactic knowingly and purposefully. he was alive then and has utilized them during his campaign rallies and even his dismissals of the charlottesville riot. yes it took two sides for there to be a conflict. speaking out against the racist night marchers and their chanting and symbol isms was a a righteous decision on the part of the protesters of the march IMHO. the presidents response not so much.
i know the "Nation" is a left leaning publication, try to not even read the rhetoric, or at least ignore it. the bullet points of atwater's interview are in the first video short at the top of the page. the entire recording is available for context in the middle. please give it a listen, and perhaps understand the problem of ignoring the words of present republican's in the context of their party's past tactics from the not so distant past.
