Whoa, I never said you were a Trump supporter. I didn't even think it. It was just my crack at that chump.
Nobody called you an asshole but if somebody did, I'll bet you'd respond. And who could blame you? Not me.
Didn’t know if trump logic was a shot at me or the guy himself. That’s what confused me. Got it now.

I am Lanny. Get it straight.

That's not what he did.

He compared a situation where you could only blame one side vs Trump's situation.

It's a valid comparison.
I just don’t understand why it has to be nazi Germany. Kind of an extreme example I guess

It’s the quickest/easiest/most obvious way to show that yes, it can be totally one side to blame.
Right but in this current situation you really can’t just blame one side. They are both responsible for bullshit in some way. It’s not one sided.

I get your point, but I just disagree with it.

You're completely wrong here.

You honestly believe that the political left is in no way responsible for any of the division in the country (the thing that Cippy is specifically saying both sides shoulder the blame for)?

If you truly believe that, then there's no further discussion to be had.

The biggest divide in this country is racism.

And that is the fault of conservatives.

How the fuck can one actually be "socially conservative" is bullshit to me.

People are free to self identify anyway they want.

And when people are free to self identify as anything they want then that means they're actually a liberal.

When subjective opinions are stated dogmatically as objective truths, conversation and understanding is stifled.

I wouldn’t say that’s the biggest divide. It’s a division among many others but racism isn’t nearly how it used to be. I also wouldn’t lay that all on conservatives. I have seen democrats be racist too. I also wouldnt make the generalization of ALL of one side because that isn’t true. Once again there is racism on both sides. It’s shitty. I think both parties really come together to create the same amount of division. Doesn’t mean that people involved with either party is bad. There are good people on both sides but more often than not this tribal like thinking towards each party depending which you root for is what causes the division and will continue the division.

Who actively fought against civil rights?
Who switched parties (dem to repub) when it passed?
Who has always been against prison/police reform?
Who is actively making it so black people can't vote?
Who is actively segregating us now?
Who is the racist "alt right'.
Who "wants to take their country back"?

Conservatives. And they need to own their shit.

They say they're trying to get more people of color to vote for them. How else are they going to broaden their voter base?

Look platy, I know it's not you or all conservatives. You don't exemplify the current conservative movement.

But it's been conservatives that have stood in our way at every move toward equality.

Even Antifa isn't racist...

Says the person who never experiences racism.

Yeah... Liberals aren't running down people with cars over their racist views. Nor are they being protected by the President when it's done.

Neo Nazis ran those people over, and your president equated the Nazis and the people protesting the Nazis....

Stop repeating his bullshit rhetoric of "all sides".

In this very thread you said you shouldn't compare people to Nazis and then you go and repeat your president's "all sides" crap...

All sides are not Nazis and you said so yourself.

It's funny to me how republicans are tryna call for civility when their asshat president is the most uncivil person in the country.

I'm not gonna parse any words or show any respect to him.

He has disrespected the office so much so that I will not afford him any level of respect. He doesn't deserve one iota of it.

Once again you’re generalizing a whole group. I’m sure there are conservatives that believe some of those but a lot actually don’t man. That’s division right there. That’s the wrong way to look at the group.

I haven’t experienced racism but in my 27 years I have experienced the country and seen with my own eyes how much better it has gotten. All sides has nothing to do with what the president said. I don’t know why you get so emotional. I’m saying it because it’s true. Both sides are definitely responsible for division. That’s all I’m saying. You can go ahead and make it some weird competition between the two sides, the fact is none of the extremes from both sides help and honestly you’re playing a part in the division by labeling all conservatives a certain way. You can’t look at it like that.

To be fair, he's not labeling all conservatives a certain way. It's more like the "not all conservatives are racist, but all the racists are conservatives" mindset. I don't agree with that either (nor do I agree with much of the content of this discussion), but I think it's important to properly categorize a person's statements.

Aren't you generalizing when you claim both sides are equal to blame? Sitting on that fence can be difficult to sustain.

It doesn't have to be Nazi Germany, but that was the posters choice, It doesn't make it any less valid.

Not really. I’m saying there are certain characteristics and groups on each side you can blame for division. Prove me wrong. It’s not hard to understand
